The process of dealing with change is similar to the process of grieving. Meaning you need to give yourself time and grace as you adapt to the new situation. Dreaming about the old job does not mean you made a bad choice going to the new one. It just means your mind is adjusting to the change.
With any change comes stages of processing the change - shock/denial, pain/guilt, anger/bargaining, depression/reflection/loneliness, upward turn, reconstruction, acceptance/hope. Everyone experiences these stages in their own time and way, and they may not experience every stage or each stage in a specific order. And these stages come about whether the change came by your own choice or was thrust upon you.
When I’m dealing with a big change, I generally bounce between a few of the stages multiple times for a while.
My advice? Look at the dreams as a signal the you are leaning into the new opportunity and on the path to embracing it. Don’t run from the emotions or feelings, but don’t dwell in the negative ones either. Remind yourself why you made the change. And take time to think about the great things the opportunity brings.
You’ll find over time that you’ll dwell less on what you left and more on where you are. Even in your dreams!
10 years is a long time. I think it’s subconscious releasing it. Keep moving forward. You can always meet up with old coworkers. A decade almost means embrace the new.
Thank you for the validation! 💕
