I sympathize with you. I’ve been an admin for 5 years. Until you decide what you will do or find another position, to protect your mental health - which is key. And I fully support that. You need to survive until that time happens. Try setting some boundaries. I don’t know why some people want to push buttons, but if you are the admin for your Dept. And the coworkers are causing issues for you. Try talking to your supervisor. Explain that anyone can make an error and that your learning. If you feel bullied by those who want to point out the negative, take a breath and say “thanks for catching that. I will make a note of this for the future, sorry for the error”. (After a few times if this doesn’t seem to make a difference - you will have to use your voice and communicate. You can say; “I realize I made this mistake and I take full ownership of it. However, the way you are speaking to me is not something that shows me respect.”) I know it’s hard to have courage but that’s what boundaries are. Admins are the go-to back bone of any department. So people might think you should know everything at once. But that is not possible. It takes 1 year to know the job, 1 year to get good at it and the following 2 years to master it. Think back on other jobs, projects, or tasks that you have done well, either in this job or others. Focus on your worth and value and keep building yourself up and others as well. Many people just need kindness in reply but don’t be a door mat. Set you boundaries, keep good notes, ask for clarification when needed. Mainly don’t be afraid to be you. Keep you chin up and just do your best. Also, take your breaks and lunch and get outside to enjoy the sunshine and recalibrate. You need it daily. I hope it all works out - in fact I know it will. Much care.
