Your feelings are entirely valid and you're right to be upset. It's upsetting. I wonder how many jobs could be saved if the C-suites sacrificed their bonuses for a quarter or two. Time will make your anger subside a little bit, it always does. I'm sorry you're going through this and I hope the next company you work for values you more.
I hear you, and I went through this exact sea of emotion last month. You'll get over it. And you're right about building dtrength for things like this. It looks like it's just going to be the way things work now. No empathy, no grace. Things will just keep moving along and we all jsut have to try and keep up because we're the ones dependent. This last month really has me thinking about being my own boss. It's not easy but I'm doing my best to figure something out.
No, you're right to feel that way. I got laid off (along with others) from my law firm after 24 years of working insane amounts of overtime and being paid decently but never really greatly appreciated. I got 9 weeks' severance (it should have been more, but I had switched from one country entity to another somehow losing my seniority in the process, as happens in a crappy company). It took me 10 months to find another job. And then a few months months later, the partners were living it up at a partner meeting in a resort town, with the whole shindig costing literally millions. I can't tell you how disgusted that made me feel. So, yeah, I get how you feel. Look for work earnestly and always look out for yourself and don't hesitate to jump ship when it makes sense. Loyalty and hard work do not matter anymore. I learned that the hard way. Look out for number one because no employer will care. Not enough enough to announce it to your face but just put a letter on your desk. SMDH.
Happens a lot, and I’m incredibly sorry you are having to go through this. Upper management is only looking out for themselves, and you should too.
It's hard to deal with, but you're not alone. Things like that have been happening all over. And as the tariff chaos does its damage there will be many more layoffs. Every company now is fixated on cutting costs before the anticipated recession comes along. It's not a lot of consolation, but it's important to remember that we did nothing wrong, but the system did wrong by us.
