Does anyone have experience with starting a Business/Employee Resource Group? I would really like to start one for Middle Eastern and North Africans as my company does not have one. There are many discussions that could benefit others and opportunities for intersectionality here. TIA!

Are you thinking of creating a group for an organisation that already exists?

It doesn’t exist in my company but it does in a few others

Check out Chezie. They make software for ERG management but have a ton of free resources to help you start an ERG

If there are existing ERGs, there may be a charter process. Does your organization have someone who leads DEIB efforts? I’d connect with them.

If not, connect with other ERG leaders or sponsors to gain insight on how they formed.

You can unofficially gather potential members and have coffee chats. Nothing should theoretically prohibit that. This could help gain momentum for the group to be “officiated” or “recognized.”

Hello all! Is there any technical consultant eorking directly on Servicenow company? I have been scheduled for an interview with hiring manager and a second interview with two Sr technical consultant. I have some questions based that this will be my first interview as a technical consultant, does this position has to do any sales? Is there any bonus or additional compensation on top of the base pay? Im currently a “Software engineering” doing the work of a system administrator. Any advice?

I started interviewing early Oct with a company that reached out via recruiter. The hiring manager was very straight forward with me that I was his top candidate and I was told all other interviews were very positive incl CMO. The recruiter said they'd be making an offer but it's now been three weeks. Anyone else had the process drag on like this? A HR question I really want to understand. ISRS HR quoted a podcast "The not so great resignation" saying 70% regret leaving and many want to go back to old employer. If this really the case the employee likely left due to higher pay at the new company. If they want to boomerang back they will likely come back at even a higher rate than they left the new company for. So getting double raise when they boomeranged. Isn't it unbeneficial, why not just give employee a 7% raise in the first place?

In honor of National Voter Registration Day, The New Yorker released the transcript of a previously unpublished interview with James Baldwin, who gave a first-hand account of "Freedom Day 1963," a Black voter-registration drive in Selma, Alabama. Baldwin's descriptions from that day are so vivid and detailed that you can feel the fear and anger of the event. If you have a couple of minutes, I highly recommend you read it.

Latinx - help! We used this term in our diversity spotlight discussing Hispanic Heritage Month. One individual said that in English a group of Latinos would just be Latins to be gender neutral. I understand the word is controversial but is “Latins” grammatically correct? I assume we should just say Latin Americans, but trying to understand if Latins is also accurate.

My company is in need of a update online, could use your opinions! We need to better showcase our culture (caring, supportive, fun, intelligent IT industry leaders) as well as diversity. We are predominantly white still but making strides to improve here. What’s the best way to approach? General question: Is there any room in corporate America for real, actionable DE&I discussions and initiatives? I've observed so many corporate versions become an advertising strategy (SM posts, diversity reports) without doing the actual work (increasing representation in senior leadership, salary analyses, having an effective reporting system for bias). Is this just how it is?

Feeling very frustrated right now…company talks a big game about DEI internally, while requiring new hires to move to Texas/Arizona, while the company’s PAC donates to politicians pushing extremist, regressive, anti-woman and anti-LGBT laws

They want to encourage us to “bring our whole self to work” while putting us in situations where we can’t be our whole self.

Anyone else in a similar place, feeling discouraged? Any tips?
