I need my consultants to travel. The work is in supply chain distribution and needs to be onsite with the team and end users. I am rolling off consultants who won’t travel. I don’t want people to get sick but work needs to get done. Yes everyone will be following all COVID protocols and following best practices. Thoughts?

How much of a pay bump, in dollars not percentages, would you want to go from working remote (even after covid) to working in an office 5 days a week? (Yes I can work 100% remote in US and can also work remote globally, but need manager approval)

Horrible anxiety about considering a new job.... I was one of the big firm stealth layoffs in covid and joined a boutique firm in Sept. They came sort of close to matching my salary but I moved to SoCal and have an opportunity to jump back in to big law and get $100k raise. The people at the small firm are so nice, but hours are nuts and if I’m going to work this much, I might as well get paid more, right? Is it too soon? How do you tell them when the managing partner took you under his wing?

My parents are getting older. In a way, I’m glad I was able to move back home and quarantine with them for the past year. It was definitely scary when my mom contracted COVID (she’s a nurse), but she and my dad were able to stay healthy and we had a great time together. Here’s to hoping COVID is actually eliminated in the near future and here’s to hoping for the good health of all our parents.

My life went way off the rails in my early 20s but I reigned myself in somehow. Last half of my 20’s I was disciplined as hell, and I was almost all the way back on track… with tiny of hope of even getting ahead some. But covid has royally blown that all to hell, repeatedly. I resent my younger self so much.

Good evening all, With my partner we are considering making a move to the countryside of Switzerland, with a gorgeous RE project offering incredible views on immaculate mountains and lake. However, it is far away, and will require 1h+ train/car commute vs. 10 min biking right now. We are scared it will bite us back at some point, although COVID helped w/ remote working being a new norm. The project will be done 2024, so I hope to have a more relax job by then. So I worked for a federal contracting company for over 5 years. They liked my work so much that when the contract ended they moved me internally. They put me on an internal company project and after months the VP who was our manager didn't like my work and pulled me off the project. This was during the covid epidemic and I found remote work quickly. However, they never terminated me nor am I being paid, however I'm getting free medical insurance and have been doing for several months now.

We’re getting married next spring and trying to put together our website. Many weddings we’re attending this year have some sort of Covid-disclaimer on them saying “please have a negative PCR test or be vaccinated beforehand” (paraphrasing), but it’s the honor system, no one is checking. For 2022, is that type of language necessary? Vaccines will have been out 1 year. The state we are getting married won’t require it (southern state), it feels like it’s on the individual wedding to say (or not).

Let’s say, after rounds of work, a client dictates to you, shot by shot, word for word, what the final spot should be. It’s likely that without the previous rounds of work, the client would not have been able to come up with what he did. There are similarities between what you had, and where the client ended up, but it’s definitely a different thought. Does that wind up in the ol’ portfolio?
