Any tips how to get a partner (who is new to our group but has been at the firm forever) to stop undermining me in front of clients/witnesses/etc? I’m a 5th year. This repeatedly happens where I have the relationship with X, and he comes in immediately talking over me & all his commentary reeks of “oh 😉we are going to let her handle this call/this deposition/this meeting😉” and providing useless/redundant/wrong info before letting me do my job. Btw - work other partners freely give me w autonomy

You have a few options, and I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive:

1) Talk to him about it (or have the client say something). I don’t know how far this will get you, but sometimes it almost embarrasses them out of this behavior if they realize how badly it’s landing with the client.

2) Keep being a hyper competent badass. He may eventually learn to trust you like the other partners do.

3) Say something to the other partners you work for, especially any partners who manage these clients.

4) Just enjoy the shared “can you believe this guy?!” glance with your clients. It’s another thing that will build a rapport with them, whether you choose to comment or not (err on the side of not commenting).

Have you started a new job without taking a break? How was it? I thought I’d have more time to give my notice but the background check took longer than I thought so now I have no wiggle room between my start date and the two week notice.

I joined in Accenture as level 8. Prior to joining, I was apporached by a project, and they seemed to not convince with my lack of knowledge about the role hence they dropped me even after contacting couple of times. Now I have got call from another one and they also seem to be not fully sure because my last role was very different. My question is how difficult is it to get a project in Accenture? Will this interviews continue? Also, what are the chances of me getting a suitable role?

This job is a lot better if you don't care about the bonus and hours requirement. I can pretty easily bill 1700 hours annually and my firm so far hasn't cared in the slightest. Worrying about hitting 2000 hours for the bonus used stress me out so much, and I just don't think it's worth it. Base salaries are ridiculous and way more than enough to finance my lifestyle.
