Anyone work at a boutique healthcare firm? I’m thinking about leaving my Big Law healthcare practice group for a regional healthcare firm. The work will be similar, but on a smaller scale and I know the lifestyle will be better (I know associates who work there). I just don’t know what life is like outside my big law firm.

I am not in healthcare but I made the jump from Big law to a smaller firm that specializes in my practice area earlier this year for better work/life balance and better promotion opportunities. I had a one year old at the time and the big law grind and politics were not working for me anymore.

I think “life on the outside of big law” will largely depend on the firm and your experience level. For me I looked for a firm that has reasonable hours expectations (~1500-1600 for counsel/partners), good promotion opportunities, clarity around what it takes to become a partner, and clean/transparent firm financials. I also didn’t mind taking a small pay cut to get the things on my list, but I also didn’t want to give up too much of my big law salary. Finally, I wanted to find a firm that was known for my particular practice area. I used these things to identify some top target firms in my city and then sent in applications/inquiries with contacts I had at each firm. I ended up with a few offers and I was lucky to be selective with which firm I ultimately decided to go with.

My advice would be to put together a list of the things you’re looking for and what the priorities are and then really take your time to interview the firm as much as they are interviewing you!

So, here it is. I was having joining on last week October as a senior analyst data science in Tiger Analytics. Today I got an call from HR that due to economic recession we are going to delay your date of joining by 2 months. My notice period was of 3 months. So total duration would be 5 months. Infact even after that too they didn't send me revised offer letter. There is something wrong with this company.
Fuck them

Hi there -
I applied to an experienced consultant position at Bain and just heard back. Yesterday, I received an invite to a HireVue one-way interview to complete. Today, I received an invite for a coffee chat with a consultant. I’m of course going to do both, but the emails make it seem like they are almost two separate paths/disconnected processes. Can anybody offer some insight into each of these/the process?
