Make sure you take breaks! I used to never take my breaks and I regret that I just worked myself to the ground. If you're entitled to something, take it.
Getting outside during my lunch break can help, but that's not always an option even if I do get my full lunch break. I have accepted that ending the day miserable is part of the job lol.
Some days in guest-facing work, I joke that I feel like “the Joker” the smile is there, but after a few hours it can feel a little pasted on.
What I’ve learned is that the difference between a forced smile and a genuine one is connection. A shared laugh with a coworker. A light moment with a guest. Still professional, but real.
Those small moments reset everything. They turn routine into human interaction, and the smile takes care of itself.
Pro
It’s hard, but I do something as simple as get a good laugh in. I realize that my day will only be as good or bad as I make it. I tend to loosen up after that. If someone can make you laugh genuinely, it really is the best!
