What do senior associates in Chicago make?
Just signed the outside employment form in KPMG onboarding system. I actually wanted to start dabbling in creative writing as a potentially monetizable hobby, but I'm guessing this may pose issues.
Definitely interested in the "exception from this policy may be requested if provision of non-professional services doesn't interfere with one's duties of causes conflict of interest" clause, though. Has anyone been able to get one of those before?
Could anyone kindly tell me about the Investment Management and Private Equity Audit Group at Deloitte? 1. Work Life Balance (Is it worst than the ordinary Big 4 WLB?) 2. Is it an entirely different audit from commercial/retail audits (think account balances etc.) 3. Difficult to learn how to audit clients in this industry without prior experience in the industry?(been doing commercial audits for 3 years) 4. Are there relatively good exit opportunities for this audit group? Deloitte PwC EY

Have you heard of fake it till you make it? 😀
True confidence comes from practice and knowing your shit. Faking only goes so far. If you really dig deep and understand the intricacies of something, communicating it upwards will come naturally. Ofc this just comes with practice, experience, and hard work
You are not alone. I just started in AAS not long ago and feel dumbfounded most of the time.
Is it simply that you are observing others who seem to be very knowledgeable? Or is it that others seem to be expecting you to have more knowledge?
The first point is common most places. The second point is much more concerning, and it's, unfortunately, very common in B4. It could be a number of things: they are just so busy they don't even realize that they are being vague, they are trying to "test" how you react to vague instructions, they are trying to set you up for failure so they give you a "second chance", etc. It's probably a combination. You just never know in B4--there's unfortunately a lot of miscommunication and manipulation that goes on.
Whatever you do, don't let it bother you mentally. I realize that's hard to do, especially when you are just trying to do your job and build your own knowledge. (neither of which is unreasonable). If this continues, it may be best to jump ship. At this rate, you are clearly not getting any substantive experience.
There's plenty of other places to learn/grow outside of B4 that are just as good of a place to build your career, if not better.
Everyone else is just faking it
