Has your firm gone woke? My leadership is consumed by virtue signaling and social justice to the point where nothing else (even our business) seems to matter. More importantly, they seem oblivious to the fact that not everyone shares their woke sensibilities and they’ve said some highly divisive and offensive things. There is no vehicle for dissent. Thinking of leaving a firm I’ve dedicated my life to as a result. It’s a sad realization.

I think the use of the term “gone woke” does somewhat imply that the Author does not value diversity. If not, it should be more precisely written. As it is written, it seeks all sorts of “protect the old ways!” Responses.

Frankly, I have very little empathy for people feeling threatened by “woke” speak of the firms. The Big 4 and the accounting profession has been white male dominated and has treated women and minorities extremely poorly over the last several decades. It’s not “woke” to finally realize only 2-% of your partner group is Black or of African descent, or only 15-30% of the female gender. Unless your clients are just a bunch of bubbas, our clients and targets are demanding diversity and change. It’s a business imperative. Is being anti-racist and anti-sexist offensive to you? If so, then your racism is offensive to most PoC, women and young people. You should definitely retire or leave the firm if you are not on board with making the firms and the US a better place for ALL Americans.

Wow EY2 - you are a little fired up....must have had a double expresso of that woke juice just before you penned your response. Couldn’t help noticing you say it’s not woke to ‘finally’ realize the small % of partner group is black or of African descent etc......let me guess you didn’t realize this was happening but finally it clicked for you last year.....where have you been? oh yeah- you just woke up.

And never a mention of cops being ambushed.

If by “gone woke” you mean talking about the world as it is not as you wish it to be, yep it has.

And spending millions of $$$ on these causes, sometimes with organizations I would not support. Also now have our PAC on this agenda.

OP as you see even if you leave, wherever you go you will not be able to run away from this issue. I personally feel the same, but also know that the neighbors grass is probably the same...

I left that environment after being a Partner for 29 yrs...it’s clear that Partners do not run our own practices or firms anymore. We are cash cows who abandon our lives for these organizations in dream
pensions and retirement benefits that will fall short as well. We are tax to the max and god forbid we execute the same strategies we deploy with our clients to reduce the burden.

I sleep well now, I am involved with my family, I don’t fly unless is recreation and I am not owned by the firm or the IRS....not to mention the contributions that are mandatory from your income that you don’t support

Have the courage to leave, your family and friends will advise you how different you become

We might have...I was based in Chicago, but part of National Insurance Consulting Team at Andersen and EY!

Also thinking of taking my book elsewhere and leaving

Yea the firm has gone woke but it is 100 percent lip service to the staff. We donate more money to the food bank than the Social justice causes.

Timmy posted an article on LinkedIn about thanking the author for his views of supporting lower tax rates for people of color as a means for reparations.

It’s a backlash to the current administration and its hostility towards minorities. Things will swing back once there is a new administration.

The change of tax rules meant to provide benefits to people that are likely not in this bowl and we need to pay more because of that... seem to be fair from a society perspective. I live in the north east and was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 mismanagement by the democratic leaders here much morebthan the federalgovernment (which I agree should have done better). If I remember correctly PoC are expressing fear for years now... remember that the first time you heard "I can't breath" on tape was Eric Garner may he rest in peace during Obama's term. The president should have been clearer on condemning white supremacy I absolutely agree, but at least he took a step more than his predecessor and designated KKK as a terror organization. Biden to be fair thinks Antifa is an idea? Again... a lot of CNN talk, but not substantiated.

We won’t miss you OP, you really should leave!

Good luck. All of the Big 4 and most of corporate America are “woke” at the moment. We are currently spending way too much time on everyone’s feelings and things everyone should have learned in grade school. Everything has become so racial or D&I related. Treat everyone with respect and be open to meet and befriend all people and do the best job you can should continue to be of focus and not get distracted with the latest media hype.

I deeply miss my ex. The breakup was initiated by me 5 years ago because I was scared to commit. Since then, I’ve gotten married and have a daughter. Do you guys feel like Biden is actually the cause of the unemployment rate being down? In 18 states where the rate is down significantly, 15 of them are run by republicans... just saying. Everyone's praising him for bringing the economy back but I'm still unemployed...and the cost of living is more pricey than ever.

I’m a second year associate at a small, but reputable firm. My caseload is almost entirely made up of clients who were referred to one of the partners but the partners are too busy so I end up taking the case. The clients are told up front that an associate, rather than a partner will be taking his/her case. I’ve run into an issue a couple of times where the client doubts my advice because I am only 2 years in. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I address the fact that I’m only 2 years in?
