I got two offers today and both offers down leveled me one level from what i interviewed for. I am not sure if i should be sad or happy….
I used to be in consulting but moved over to social impact two years ago. I found out I’m getting laid off EOM due to budget cut and I’m really sad. I really don’t have the motivation to apply for new roles, interview etc when usually I actually love that process. Also my role was well paid for nonprofit sector and looking at other roles in the space makes me realize I’m not going to get close to the same salary again. Considering consulting again but loved this job 1000% more. Advice?
I just got a new job and started (175k TC), but I am still interviewing thinking that there are opportunities out there which will offer me more money. Rejected by a company which can potentially offer me 190k and I am really sad and cannot focus now. Am I doing it wrong and not enjoying life?
Got a rejection from an agency I was super excited about. Had made it to round three in interviews and really thought it might work out. Feeling so exhausted from searching and trying to find the right spot for over a year now. Just here to complain and be sad. And maybe hear some stories of hope from those who have been through it.
Any reccomendations for keeping my brain busy after BOMBING my final round partner interview? They said they'll call me on Monday to let me know either way but I'm SAD and now I have to be SAD for 3 days.
I’m in a process for customer engineer at Google Cloud. Already had role related, GCA, presentation and Googliness/leadership interviews. Recruiter got back a couple of days after and scheduled the 1st team introduction last week. I have the second one next Tuesday. Does it mean I got “approved” by the HC and now it’s a matter of finding the right team? Could it end up on a sad “we didn’t find a perfect fit this time”? What are your thoughts?
My preferred company A sad they couldn’t staff me till early May so they can’t extend offer yet. I told the HR I’m also interviewing with B. But the B thing fell through. How do I communicate this with HR of A?
I was finally received an offer my dream position and I am thrilled but the on boarding process will be delayed by 6 months. However, I also applied for the same position two years ago and was rejected. This time around, I reached out to an internal contact who helped me get an interview. I am kicking myself for not reaching out sooner, two years ago. really sad about it.
Venting: I just went through rounds and rounds of interviews with a company. It was going really well, like I nailed each one of them. They asked me to do an assignment to which I said yes (I know but I wanted the job!) and I spent days working on it. Then crickets. Few days later “sorry but we’re changing our focus to a new role”. I feel angry, deflated.. sad. It seems on here that it’s easy for everyone to get the job. I’m always the number two candidates or *poof* the role disappears.
Seeing all the job interviews I got rejected from the past three months makes me sad... I guess I shouldn't expect much...
SERIOUS OPINIONS ONLY: mgmt consultants - how do we do so so good at solving BIG problems for clients - sometimes whether they want to buy this firm or not or generally how they should transform to serve customers that spans triple digits.. yet I feel myself completely broken applying any of my skills to my personal life.. I got questioned today, “you are a big consultant, yet your professional background doesn’t add up to how you execute personally” - and I realized it’s true..seriously sad
Working Moms/Dads: Do in-house positions exist with flex time hours? I need to be able to leave work at 4pm to pick up my son from daycare, but i can get back online at home to resume any unfinished work at 8pm. Is this realistic to convey to any companies in an interview? Pandemic aside, is face time 9-7pm really important? Or should i just try to find a job with a salary that covers a nanny salary and accept that i will never see my son on weekdays (which would be sad for both of us)? TIA!
Hey I have a big interview today. Wish me luck because if I don’t do well I’ll be sad. Thanks
How has your experience been with the friendliness of interviews? Is it easy to connect or does it feel like a transaction (question then answer). Have they been friendly overall or hard to read? I’m really sad over two bad interviews and I don’t know if it’s me not being engaging enough or just the style of the interview :(
Well I just got laid off from the industry job I started a few months ago and hated. The fact that I’m not even remotely sad about it shows how toxic and horrible the experience was. Good thing is I already have interviews lined up and have been applying to jobs way more in the past week so I’m not even phased.
I have an interview tomorrow. And I’m supposed to be prepping today. My period is next week & I am an emotional mess. Like all I want to do is cry and be sad. But I can’t because I need to focus on this interview so I can get out of this job I hate. Any tips? How do I manage my emotions before/during the interview 😭
Cold applied for an awesome role, had an interview with hiring manager, recruiter, and given a pretty hefty assignment that I’m really proud of nailing. They followed up with an email asking for 4-5 days that I am available for a full day of interviews. Gave them 4-5 days, started planning for how I’d get those days off work during insane times at current job, and now not a single word from them to confirm a date. Been over a week now. Sad. Pretty jaded. What can I do? Already followed up
Low key sad situation but I’m pretty extroverted and have been at my parents place since March and have no friends here, and I literally get in a better mood after doing expert interviews because I’m having a deep 1:1 conversation with someone 😐
After 3 months of applying I some how got an interview with a well known growing tech start up! Interviewed and got an offer this week. Unfortunately the offer is lower than my current comp with 1 yoe but it gets me out of tech consulting/compliance and into a pretty interesting product facing role! A bit sad about a lower comp but also pretty pumped about pivoting career paths so early and getting to work in product! Hope this “success” helps motivate some of y’all who might feel down!
Someone posted a link the other day on interviews this guy conducts and i went down a rabbit hole sad to say. Idk what to beleive anymore. The more i dig, the more i seem to find that this this lady and others arent just lunatics. https://youtu.be/kgnBldI7KPY

Have an initial 15 minute phone interview with KPMG Any advice on what specifically to prepare? Advice on the rest of the interview process?
Hey, how to prepare for case interviews? Too many times I’ve been told I lack critical thinking.
I applied to be a Mentor Teacher on my campus, and interviews are this Friday. What sort of questions should I be prepared for? ANY advice would honestly be helpful. Thanks!
Interviewing with startups. What's the average amount of time from initial conversation to offer? Any other startup interview advice is appreciated as well.
Cold applied to McKinsey just for the hell of it. Got a call for a screening. Have no idea what to expect in the screen or overall interview process. Any tips/insights? (I’m now wishing I paid more attention to the MBB interview stuff in this app - I hear there’s a case? Haha 🤔)
Lined up for Accenture situational interview. What type of questions come up? Also what are these interviews for?
Applying for round 1 as a senior analyst vs. applying for round 2 (or even 3 for certain schools) as a consultant - which would have higher odds of getting in? ACN promos aren’t effective until Dec
Just had first post-layoff interview ... Pretty nervous remembering what it was like to be on the other side of the table when I did the interviewing.
MBB fish involved in on campus recruiting, are there any predetermined slots or caps for first round interviews, final rounds, and number of offers by office?
Very interested in working in PE in emerging markets. Currently interviewing for PE roles domestically, but wondering if it’s better just to jump abroad immediately (Cont)
Telling a recruiter you have other interviews and possible offers coming in order to make them speed up a possible/rejection? Good Idea?
What to do if even after a lot of preparation, something or the other goes wrong in interviews? 😔 Am I doing something wrong? In the prep, everything goes well. Feeling completely lost.
I have an interview with Deloitte Strategy & Analytics for a Senior Consultant role. What can I expect in the case? Is it a regular case? Or something new? The email I got is throwing me off. Help, thanks :)
Is it true that kpmg doesn’t do case interviews?
After you’ve connected with a consultant on LinkedIn what’s the best practice for asking someone to give you a practice case? To balance respect someone’s time vs coming off as transactional. Should you first ask for coffee chat, then later a case or can you ask for a case in your first “chat”? I am prepping for MBB interviews but I know consultants work crazy hours so I don’t want to take up more time than necessary - what would you prefer? What is the best practice?
I've started my job hunt in earnest. Revamped my resume, been setting up informational interviews, getting emails from recruiters ... I'm so excited for the next step!
How many rounds of interviews are normal for a small, independent agency? I’m in the process of interviewing for an associate account executive (entry level) position if that helps! I’ve had a phone screen and one virtual interview with the co-founders so far.
Looking to resign in about a month. Really need a mental break from the corporate world. I’ve amassed about 2-3 years worth of salary in my investments to hold me through for however long. How bad is it if I took 6-18 months off to pursue hobbies and possible other career paths (content creation/vlogging) while being unemployed before applying to another job in industry? TLDR; I’m about to quit, how bad does a 6-18 month employment gap look when looking to apply again to the workforce?
Someone who tends to make sexist remarks (without realizing that they are sexist) used an analogy in a client meeting - statistics are like a mini skirt. They reveal a lot but hide the crucial things. Hopefully anyone reading this knows why this is problematic. I’m keen on raising an objection but unsure how. I want to come from a place of building awareness. Any tips?
Interviewing at two companies. Company A I’m already at the Partner interview next week. Company B first interview is next week. Problem is company B is totally my preference. I feel confident I’d get it but I can’t be 100% sure. What have you guys done in scenarios where you have multiple offers landing at staggered times? I don’t want to resign for a competitor only to join a different firm in the end - feels like it makes me look confused and unreliable.
Starting my first job in an agency next week. Any tips, do’s and don’t, things I should know before I start? I’ve been wearing a tshirt over zoom for so long now I’m not sure what to wear when I go into the office.
Anyone know why Advisory can't see the comp statements yet?...as they were supposed to be available today...
