Could be several things … heat spots, flea/mosquito bites …. Are they itchy?
I would call the vet.
Could be many different things. I’d monitor. When my dog gets these it’s a heat rash that resolves on its own, but again all dogs are case by case.
Could be allergies? My dog has something similar when her allergies flare up
I would say heat rash, most likely. You will notice in areas with less fur, such as the area in your photo. Think belly, armpits, skin folds, between the legs or toes, under the collar or harness. It has been incredibly hot all over, as I’m sure you are aware, making doggos all the more susceptible. Keep an eye on the area and watch for any signs of blistering/excessive scratching/odor, but generally speaking, mild cases will resolve on their own. Going forward, take extra care to note weather conditions and make adjustments to your regular routine where necessary (eg, protective footwear/balms; limit outside exposure and intense activity; definitely monitor hydration.)
And while monitoring for signs of heat rash take special note to do the same for heat stroke- know the signs and be prepared.
Some general suggestions that have worked well for us: “freezer toys” (generally chew toys that you can fill with water and freeze), cooling mats, portable bottle/bowl combo gadgets, cooling harnesses/vests, and the OG, no cost: ice cubes. Make a game of sliding them around, put them straight in their water bowl, or just let them cronch.
Thank you
Definitely could be a few things. As others mentioned, heat rash is possible with this weather. For my dog he has allergies and gets a prescription foam from our vet to clear it up. If it doesn't go away within a couple of days I'd visit the vet.
Could be fleas or red ants, I have 2 border collies and they seem to come n go, a good tropical spray helps , good luck
I would consult a licensed veterinarian. It could be many things. Getting a diagnosis and treatment advice from random people could be costly for both you and your dog.
Looks like it could be a skin allergy or irritation possibly from food, environment, or even fleas. Best to check with a vet to rule out infection or mange. Hope your pup feels better soon!
