To my fellow half latinas/latinos: When asked about your race, how do you respond? I'm half white and half latin, and I never know which option to choose.

Has anybody got advice for pivoting in your career? I focused on civil municipal law in law school because it was my first internship and my grades hovered between median and below median so I thought it was the only type of job I had any hope of getting. I like learning about the law but a lot of the particular practice I was in relied on my ability to basically nag people and to manage political relationships, so I just found the work really exhausting because I'm an introvert by nature.

Does anyone else feel like Olympic campaigns are seriously subpar this year? (One exception being the skateboarding FB ads by Droga). Normally I feel like there are at least several great campaigns you see over and over and this year I literally can’t even bring many to mind. Wondering if the cause has been covid production restrictions, or less money pumped in due to fear of the games being cancelled, or brands feeling like the Olympics shouldn’t have even happened. Thoughts?

With the huge budget my company sets aside for advertising, lots of people think that marketing execs are really well paid. I WISH!!!

When should you update LinkedIn after you started a new job?

I'm a marketer, and I hate when people say "I don't have time to do marketing."

Well, first of all, you have time. You just don't want to make the time. Second of all, if you're not doing marketing, you're losing money every day.

New employer is still doing my background check. I took the next two weeks as vacation at my current firm (I had a lot of unused days). How do I determine my start date at a new place if I haven’t given resignation yet? I believe i’ll have 30 day notice, also would like to take a couple of weeks between the jobs.

Portland: does anyone practice there? What’s your opinion? Would you pick Seattle if you had to choose between the two? I’m a 5th year associate practicing in a mid-size market in the Midwest looking to make a move to the West Coast and am wondering if it’s a good idea.

Been struggling with a super toxic workplace. I've been here for about 6 months and it's really wearing on me, but I want to make it at least a year so I don't have job hopping on my resume as a relative newbie in the field. Any advice?

Received an offer from Deloitte S&A for Analyst role. Currently 3 YOE in industry with finance but no consulting background. Have a non-MBA masters. Is $88k base and $5k signing bonus reasonable? I live in a tier 1 city.
