First, you graduated law school. Do you remember the first few weeks? Deer in headlights for most of us. Second, I have worked as in house counsel for start ups. You make your way. Build relationships. You just need one person to help you navigate. Be positive, no complaining. How can they help? What questions do you have? It’s chaotic but it’s very empowering when you create value and make yourself indispensable. So chin up. You got this. Set a few goals this week and kick some butt. When people are jerks to me, I dig deep and show them I got this with or without their help. Stress causes mistakes. Find ways to relax on the weekends so you do your best work M-F. You got this!
I get the sentiment of this response but it’s very hard to stay chin up when you work for/with rude people who make you feel small let alone build the confidence to “create value and make yourself indispensable.” OP, I’m in a similar spot with you right now and I’m looking for exit opportunities. Sometimes the fit isn’t right.
Omg I am basically in the same boat. I hate my new firm so much, I’m seriously considering therapy bc I’m just depressed. But my gripes are that the work is not what I thought it would be. Plus I feel like the people at my last firm were all so much smarter than me and I could learn so much from them. Needless to say, I am looking for a new job lol.
