So I guess my question is how do I ask for a very substantial raise? When I say I am being underpaid I mean GROSSLY. ive been our manager for a few years now, and learned recently our brand new staff with only 1 responsibility get paid only a few dollars less than me an hr. Granted I understand that was a low blow on the old owners, but can I hold the new owners responsible for waging that pay discrepancy?
A large international brand likely has a robust hr structure with established salary bands for organizational levels. You should expect that and highlight you’ve been underpaid and expect to have salary adjusted as per the appropriate salary bands.
And you should be pretty damn annoyed with the existing management team taking advantage of you. Maybe you can negotiate a raise NOW, before the transition.
