My experience has been that degrees matter for entry level but you have to relearn everything once you’re in a. New job anyway. So in addition to experience and results, i think it’s critical to somehow be able to demonstrate learning agility, ability to operate and succeed in ambiguity. Perhaps that’s through talking about results but too often results beg the question of if you are directly responsible for them part of a big team that collectively was responsible for them
I've definitely seen a shift towards valuing experience and skills rather than formal education. Back in the day, you couldn't get anywhere without a degree and now I don't think that's the case. But a lot of employers prefer a mix of both, I think.
