Hey there fellow ESQs,
I am creating a professional corporation PC but don’t know whether to incorporate as an S corporation or C corporation. Anybody create a corporation who can lay out the benefits for an S or C corporation tax wise? My accountant isn’t being that helpful

Hello! I am graduating in the fall of next year with my B.S. in Accounting. I was offered a staff accountant position to start immediately at a small firm in Central Florida. The salary is $52k per year with decent additional benefits. Is this a good entry level salary?

Thanks!

I’ve been looking for a senior accountant (industry role) for a few months now, with not much luck. Most of the applications we receive are for candidates with much more experience than what is required. I was expecting to see a lot of Big4 or mid-tier seniors or associates that are looking to move to industry, especially since the news lately is that PA firms are experiencing attrition at those levels. We’re offering competitive pay and great benefits. What gives?

Is $75K not enough for a staff tax accountant?

I have difficulties finding one. No CPA required, 100% remote, decent health insurance; and no one is biting. Two main requirements: understanding of income/franchise tax and good Excel (ideally - Power BI and or Alteryx). Does our recruiter suck or do we have unrealistic expectations?

Currently an A3 in assurance. I have two job offers: senior financial analyst (FP&A role) and senior accountant. Similar pay (a little over 40% raise), similar benefits. Will taking one of the offers limit me to just those types of roles going forward or would there still be an opportunity to do the other later on?

Applied for a government job as an accountant today. Base pay is 40% higher than what I’m making now as an A3, assurance, LCOL. As a matter of fact, base pay is higher than my total comp at PwC (that’s base plus bonus and the value of all benefits). Are government jobs competitive to get into?

Advice needed: looking to leave public accounting and tax for good. I have two offers between a financial analyst and an accountant role. Based on your experience, which of the two has the best/better exit opportunities (should I decide to pursue the finance realm or something else) and better work life balance? The bigger pay as an analyst is tempting, but the company benefits are meh.

Anyone familiar with salary in orange county (SoCal) and LA/El Segundo area? Interviewed for a senior accountant role in a public health care industry in Irvine, but their maximum pay is 85K. I thought Irvine should have pretty good pay too but this surprises me. Even a private Healthcare company in El Segundo pays more than that for the same role but with even lesser experience and easier job duties...

Is this salary too low? I'm @ final interview for senior accountant and job posting said $60-65k. Before you say it's too low right away, my experience is on a low end of this of this role. Just 1 year auditer @ national top 10, 6 months intern at same firm, 1 year accounting intern at local private firm, and 2 years doing AP clerk. I'm a licensed CPA and in MCOL. I really want this title for growth but don't want to get stiffed. It's a large corp w/ great benefits.

Considering 2 industry job offers - #1 is a mid-size software company, $70k + $5k signing bonus. #2 is a mid-size fintech company, $83k. I've been wanting to work for #1 and I like the industry and people better, but am having trouble looking past the pay. For context, I'm a senior 1 making $73k base. Both roles are standard GL accountant roles, and benefits are similar. Would you take a pay cut for a company you wanted to work for?

Hi! Relatively new here. Current employer doesn’t provide a 401K, and former employer is about to shut down their 401K, so I need to transfer that money elsewhere. Any advice as to - where to transfer it, and how best to keep max saving for retirement? My tax accountant suggested doing a 401K via an LLC since a typical IRA has too low a limit. Any advice or suggestions?

Anyone have money management advice? I have a lot saved (no loans, got brother's old car, big CD from family that ends in a few months). I'm putting quite a bit into 401k with the remainder sent to a money market (supposedly high yield) account. It's an awesome problem to have, but I feel like I'm sitting on this money, doing nothing. I have no knowledge of stocks, but getting another CD seems wasteful.

Only big purchase planned is an eventual new car, which I can easily buy.
