The biggest mistake is to get stuck in that cycle. The only thing different is that you don't have a job now. That doesn't have to make you complete depreciate as a human of value. Get out there! Use this time to pick up something you couldn't earlier because you were busy. Make some new habits and friends. You are still just as valuable. A company deciding not to work with you anymore means nothing more than business decisons.
Losing your job is just going to be hard, that's the reality of it. I guess there are many ways to cope, but what I've done is just focus on finding a new job. I recognize that I got caught up in a layoff through no fault of my own, and I just need to bounce back and not fixate on it. It's good not to get too isolated, so make sure to stay in touch with people. And guard your health, eat properly and get enough sleep. And just do what you need to do to find another job and get things stabilized.
it is difficult no doubt, and you’ll be reluctant to allow yourself any fun, or excessive spending if you have no stable income (the smart thing to do), but rely on your support system that got you there, friends and fam. trust that you’ll find the right opportunity and keep your head down. your new 9-5 is finding your next 9-5. good luck!
Your feelings are totally valid. It's hard to go from spending most of your waking hours doing something to… Not doing it anymore. It can disrupt your sense of time and self-esteem. Just remember that you're not alone; many people who lose their jobs experience this. See if you can reach out to people around you and ask them for help during this time.
It’s really hard. Give yourself grace and time to grieve. I’m in my 3rd layoff with this being a 2nd back to back one, and I’m still not able to handle it well. I hit two months and just started crawling out of my deep depression a little. People are right to get into a schedule and not get stuck in a cycle, but also don’t be hard on yourself for not being able to pick yourself up so fast. It really freaking sucks.
