Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

Looking to advance my career but most places ask if you have full Sales cycle/ closing. How do I gain this experience if current role won’t offer it and new roles require it?

I'm currently a Senior HR Manager (because the Ops Director didn't want another Director In the payroll) overseeing 4 facilities & 3 companies. I have 1 HR Manager, 3 HR Generalists, 1 Recruiter, 2 EHS Coord, and 3 EHS Leads reporting to me.
I have over 15 years in HR, an MBA, PHR & SHRM-CP certifications & experience in healthcare, retail, logistics, & manufacturing.
I'm in Texas and willing to relocate to San Antonio, College Station & Houston.

I’m transitioning back into the tech space after working in education the last five years. When applying to a remote Customer Success role, what would be a rough range to ask for salary, bonus, stock options? Quite a few companies are asking for this in applications.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Just need to vent among people who understand me.
So we have a multi-generational workplace which is kinda a good thing, generally, but not lately.
With the whole opinion polarization around racism, I feel like I don’t know how to be empathetic, impartial and connect people anymore.

One of my current coaching clients told me “I have to interview for my job.” It’s not the first time I’ve heard of this happening in a re-org. But please, HR folks, help me understand: Why this is a good idea? It seems incredibly anxiety-provoking for the employees. What’s the business rationale for this? And what does it do to employee morale?

Hostile work environment? 15 yes of HR experience- been w/current employer 1 year. Relationship w/manager is push & pull. The situation is stressful to the point it’s triggering health issues. Out of the blue today, my manager sends me an email titled “Accommodation Follow-Up”. Last week I wasn’t feeling well & took a 1 sick day to go to ER. There has been NO discussion for accommodations, nor any request made. But the email mentioned “pre-existing condition” and felt very intentional.

Has anyone bought/ done the HRCI Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management? I already have my PHR, but I’m looking to gain more knowledge/skills and beef up my resume. Is it worth doing? The course is $239 and you get 12 Recert credits with it.

I have been notified by my current company that they are giving me an early exit and do not want me to serve 2 months notice period. My joining date in JP is in 2 months. Should I inform the HR regarding this? Would there be any questions regarding early last working day, if I chose not to inform?

It’s almost impossible for me to get out of bed until 11am or sometimes later. I grab my laptop and start working at 8:30 but I find myself just falling back asleep and unable to really get my day going. I don’t have any calls until 12 because I work with mostly west coast people. I also don’t drink coffee and never did. I’ve never been a morning person but I just feel like it’s not healthy. I wish i was one of those people who can get up early and work out and start their day.
