2nd year Manager at EY, with 8 YOE. Evaluating two offers and need help: 1. Amazon - CSM (L5) TC: 185k base + 30k bonus Year 1 (and 19k year 2) 18 RSUs to be vested across 4 years 2. Deloitte - Manager TC: 210k base + 20k bonus Roles are similar. 4 year return seems higher with Deloitte, considering the Base + Bonus structure. Also factoring the 15% stock increase. Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!

Any tips for building a client base from scratch? I’m a 4th year associate at a firm of 12 attorneys. I practice in business, compliance, and real estate (primarily on partners’ files) and don’t litigate. Most of the partners’ clients are wealthy friends or friends of friends (not my circle). Associates are not referred business, even cold calls, and so far “networking” events like Chamber of Commerce luncheons have been a bust. I equate a book to autonomy and career choice and pressure is on.
