I’m about to turn 40 and am looking to make a major career change after 15 years in sales. I’ve been sending out resumes and hearing nothing back, and I’m starting to feel like I’m too old to start over. How can I make my experience shine in a way that appeals to companies looking for "fresh" perspectives?

I’ve built a reputation I’m proud of @ my company. I’m underpaid for what I do (started as an intern) & recently asked for a market adjustment. Management acknowledged that I’m undervalued & plans to set me up for a promotion. It’d come with more responsibility, which doesn’t align with my goals.

Is it wise for me to remain open to a promotion just for increased pay? Or should I be transparent with management about my goals (& possibly not get the pay I’m asking for)? Or any other tips?
