Im sorry this is happening and causing stress for something you thought was behind you. I know it’s such an overused advice but if you can, therapy does wonders since you might not be able to completely avoid them without moving jobs/or even professions depending on your situation.
It is not the same, but I was SAd by a family member that I avoid at all costs—my family doesn’t know, so they constantly suggest inviting him or us seeing him and I have successfully avoided it for years now. I get anxiety attacks after every time this is suggested even after avoiding it. My therapist taught me years ago to use sour candy to divert my anxiety, something about the sourness helps curb it and I haven’t had a full on panic/anxiety attack since I learned the trick. Maybe it can help you, too? Sending you hugs!!
I get it, I had to stop therapy because of my insurance. It helped me a lot though! And thank you! I’m still unwilling to tell them the truth before he dies but the counter is the continued suggestions, so it was a choice I made years ago and continue to make now.
I’m sorry. That’s absolutely awful. I was in a similar situation at my old firm, and unfortunately, that partner is very connected in this market. So I run into people all the time who say did you used to work with so and so? It sucks. Your experience is valid.
