No, just reach out when you come back. Enjoy your leave, work will be there when you return.
No no no no. Please do not work or monitor your cases on maternity leave. It’s time for you and your little one(s). Like Partner 1 said: The work will be there for when you come back.
Chief
The protocol at my old firm was to (1) confirm return date with HR / practice group chair, and whether you’re coming back full time, a few weeks out, and (2) stop by the office with the baby and do a lap to say hi, and grab lunch with friends, at some point toward the end of leave.
If you want to email people like a week out to remind them you’re coming back, there’s no harm and it would help you to fill your plate.
I agree with this, just remind people you are coming back so they’ll staff you on things again.
Ask HR whether your firm offers a "ramp up time" benefit and if so do all of that reconnecting and getting up to speed on the firm's time, not your own.
