So, I just fired my first employee as a manager and I'm heartbroken. He was a great, great person but after 6 months on a PIP he just wasn't cutting it skills-wise. I know he was the provider of the household and his wife didn't have a job since she was raising three young ones. Needless to say, I had to take off because I felt terrible, sick to my stomach. Have met with 5 people for two different teams and another person for another team, all of which I believe are 3 total open positions for 3 different teams. Working as a summer analyst in private wealth management this summer and just got a return offer at GS. Anyone have any experience with salaries, exit ops, etc. pressured between taking the return and looking for something with more optionality.

Just curious to how my firms (wealth management/bank/trust) comp compares with others out there. I received a promotion earlier this year from an Investment Advisor, AVP to Senior Investment Advisor, VP and moved from $110K to $140K ($130 salary + $10K discretionary bonus) all in. By meeting expectations in 2 pay cycles, the base bumps up to $175K + bonus. Grown in this role over about 10 years with the same firm, MBA + CFA; top 10 city and living comfortably as dual income household.
