When you take a client out to lunch during the week, and the client orders wine or a cocktail, do you join them for a drink or several and then go back to the office and hope you sound smart and sober? Or is it just me?

Someone in Chicago with a drinking problem????? The mind reels

likefunny

I'll have one drink. Anything more than that and all I'll want to do when I get back to the office is take a nap.

Depends on the agency - I’ll usually have one and head back to the office. I can handle one (maybe 2) but anything more than that is excessive.

Well, when we actually saw clients.

Lol i always think about Mad Men during client lunches because at least in that show it's like everyone is drinking whiskey all day long and no deals are made sober lol. Frankly I think it's fun and I'll have a drink or 2 because client lunches are rare for me. But it is funny how much stigma around drinking & work has changed especially in our industry

If you want a drink, get it. If you don't, don't.

I usually have a cup of coffee with my lunch, so that's generally what I'll have if I meet someone for lunch. If they want a drink, that's fine. But I seldom drink these days. We may fantasize about being Roger Sterling, but those days are over.

Live a little! Personally love going back to the office with a lunch buzz, laughing through a meeting, remembering how dumb and hilarious our job is, and heading out early for happy hour!

I remember taking a client to Gibsons for lunch and all they wanted to do was people watch the entire time 😂😂

Why I mean, I don’t wanna be rude. If everyone else at the table is having a drink a small glass of wine or you know a cocktail that doesn’t smell too alcoholically never heard anybody never had more than one or two drinks though and then the key is, if you don’t have breath mitts, I recommend a minty drink like a Mojito.

Very specific to retail and/or hospitality in-house roles: has anyone found a good solution for predictive scheduling? Our retail division has one set of software for scheduling and one for payroll, and neither of them can handle predictive scheduling compliance issues unless they’re used for both the scheduling and payroll functions. I’m coming up empty on ideas for them to bridge the gap, but I’m also new to my compliance counsel role, so I would be overjoyed if anyone has suggestions.

I’m a first year associate (almost second year). I work at a national firm and I’m not a litigator. When I started with the firm, I was told I could work out of any office. Long story short, I regret choosing the office that I chose. I’d like to transfer to another office - is that a difficult ask? I’m licensed in the state I’d like to transfer to. I don’t know how to make this request.
