Why is everyone here so triggered by the White Tiger? That’s how the majority of India lives, please get outside your white collar bubbles. And stop saying “the media always shows poverty”, they also released shows like Bollywood Wives and Indian Matchmaking.
I’m finally watching Indian matchmaking - and honestly I think this style of introducing people based on families, matchmaker should be way more common. So many people make terrible partner choices. More Sima Aunties!
For anyone who watched Indian Matchmaking and didn’t like Aparna- READ THIS. Totally changed my mind on her, wow. TLDR: it was all editing, purposely focusing on the entertaining (and negative) sides of her. So many good things she said were kept off camera. https://www.filmcompanion.in/streaming/netflix/indian-matchmaking-netflix-they-wanted-everyone-to-hate-me-aparna-shewakramani-on-life-after/
30 m ny/nj. US citizen. Moved as a teenager. INTJ. Single since I figured I’m not fighting the biological clock and have all the time in the world to meet someone and get settled. Things changed after I watched Akshay’s mom (Indian Matchmaking) tell him even 25 is too late and not marrying somehow messes up lives of people around him. While the show was staged, there might be truth to the latter part. Looking for F in ny/nj. Personality: NOT Aparna. NOT Nadia but def more Nadia than Aparna.🙏
So I’m late to the Indian Matchmaking series. Is it the guy who has to be wealthy and the women who need to come from wealth? There doesn’t seem to be a lot of emphasis on what the women do for a living, but the men all seem either well-off or getting called losers. Is that what people look for in real life too? So there’s no place for women on the come up to be with someone above their own social class?
Desi Consultants!! - who all are thinking of hiring Sima Taparia (after watching Indian matchmaking on Netflix) for finding your future significant other?
Watching the Indian Matchmaking on Netflix. Every other minute a guy or his parents are asking for "fair skin." 🤦 PS: I am not Indian and really don't want to offend anyone, but I think this is not a positive messaging for young girls.
“You know what I hate about people? When men I’m on a date with start taking to other people. When they talk to the bartender and have a real conversation.🤯” - Aparna from Indian Matchmaking That line told me everything I needed to know about why she’s still single🤦♀️
Saw some of these posts and decided to shoot my shot...25/M/Indian (Cue the Indian Matchmaking memes) NY (Not born, but raised) Hmu if you’re interested in talking/seeing where things go, ideally looking for something long term
“The realization that you can meet someone and it can just feel easy and not like work is amazing” —Rupam, Indian Matchmaking
Fellow 🐠 and 🦈, need advice/witty response ideas to the questions: 1. Are you going through the same thing as what was shown in Indian matchmaking? 2. Why don’t you hire sima aunty to help you? F**k Indian matchmaking!
Unpopular opinion: Don't understand what people are loving about Indian Matchmaking I do not find it hilarious and do not find Nadia adorable 🙄
So...what did you non Indian ladies think of Indian Matchmaking on Netflix? 😀 Now you know why I’m single.
After watching Arpana and her attitude in Indian Matchmaking, purani kahawaat yaad aagayi... “ Na shakal na *^*^* Aur nakhre unchi unchi”
Didn’t know Indian matchmaking has become so progressive until I started watching this show. Just wow.
Who makes you cringe the most between Pradhyumaan, Arapna and Akshay? Also, Nadia is 😍! (referring to Indian Matchmaking on Netflix)
I'm not going to get back 5 hours of my life. Watched "Indian Matchmaking". Full of incredulous stereotypes that I abhor. Indian here, btw.
I wonder if Sima in Indian Matchmaking (show on Netflix) would be willing to fly to NYC to set up a non-Indian person. She’s the real deal it seems.
Anyone watching Indian Matchmaking? Aparna and her mother have to be the worst, right? She thinks she's a godsend and quite frankly she looks like a potato, is ignorant, doesn't sound nearly as intelligent as she professes to be, and is even more negative than I am! That's gotta say something.
Thoughts/reviews on Indian Matchmaking?
What is the compensation range and average for a Managing Director (junior to senior MD) at Accenture in US Strategy and Consulting?
I find that single male friends of friends are generally very eager when we first met or were introduced (through events, common friends’ parties). I got invited to their hangout bunch / house parties (pre-covid), but the moment we established i have no romantic interest and only friendships, they disappeared and we become barely acquaintance. I genuinely want to keep them in my life as friends. Why is this the case?
WHY do big tech companies make the candidates write algorithms during interviews? I am a senior software engineer and I can say with surety that SSE rarely write algorithms unless you are working on building something totally unique (like a new search engine).
When you apply to a non finance role, should you remove deal experience off your resume and keep it more high level?
Guys, you can join Asia innovation summit which is going on now. There are some good conversations happening there but mainly there are job stalls and hiring managers also present. There are major crypto companies also hiring there.
Does McK still have their referral in place? How about BCG or Bain? Anyone want to refer?

How are folks thinking about permanent life insurance? 45, making let’s say for example (not my exact numbers): $1M per year, not yet vested in pension. Was thinking need to replace the post tax take home, about $550k NPV’ed at 5% to age 55, so that’s like $3.2M. Maybe pension is worth $2.5M so I think that means I should have $5.7 total you want death to have no financial impact. Also was going to do $1M of that in perm w/ LTC rider. Sound right?
How long does it typically take until a recruiter reaches out to schedule an initial phone screening (it they reach out) after you submit your online application at McKinsey? Applied for a general entry level role - experienced hire
Do you guys let management know you are upset with compensation ? How do you handle it? I had my discussion and expressed my disappointment recently and feel weird about it. Not sure if that was the right thing to do.

Do Deloitte's case interviews involve math?
I am two months short of completing 2 years of service at the current firm. I got a good offer and looking to move. This means I will have to pay back about $6k in joining bonus. Is there anyway I can negotiate this? I have so much overtime work hours that can currently be tracked to about 500+ hours for this year alone. What are somethings I should be aware of when paying back the joining bonus?
Which career path will u choose for yourself and why? Options - 1) CXO of large tech co., like FAANG 2) partner with b4/mbb 3) CXO of a unicorn - like stripe or what Facebook was in 2006/2007, with a huge upside when it goes public 4) start a company of ur own that has a decent shot of becoming successful. Any recommendations for a online psychologist who knows how to deal with work place anxiety? My work place anxiety is impacting my focus and causing me to freeze at critical moments. Preferably someone who takes PPO insurance.
Next week I ask my leadership about moving out of the city and working remote permanently. There is nothing for me in the city: All my friends have moved away or lost contact in these months, and the only thing keeping me is the job. My last year review was the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve handled remote work well. Any advice for this convo?
Every time I walk past Spirit gates, I get really good vibes. People waiting at those gates might not be frequent fliers, but they look so happy. Thats what vacation does to people i guess
Do you guys have any tricks to assess professional maturity in interviews? I am always surprised by the difference between interview performance and what candidates deliver when the show really starts
