My agency puts on a big show about their diversity/inclusions/women’s equality efforts but for the most part its bullshit. The c-suite drinks their own koolaid and don’t even realize it’s all fake.
Whoever includes the word Bigly in their headline will win the Grand Prix at Cannes next year.
Hear me out. We’re living in the residual days of advertising power. Back in the day, if you worked in advertising, you very much shaped culture. Advertising creatives shared the airwaves with only the likes of Hollywood and national news. There were only so many pipes into culture and advertising was a big one. But today, the pipes are democratized. Random teens on TikTok are having more impact on culture than Mad Ave. And yet, so much ego and self importance remains.
Hard pass…you want a creative title then you need to do creative work and build a book like the rest of us. Not that complicated. Not sure what’s up with the obsession of everyone wanting to be a creative.

How long do you typically allow for self assessments and manager assessments for year-end? This year we gave employees a week and managers 3 weeks (holidays not included), but they still said it wasn’t long enough even though most waited until the very last day to complete them.

When it comes to recruiting, is it good for the industry when the first word out of HR is "diversity" and not "talent?"
What's the harshest thing your Buyer has ever said to you? Ex: Buyer emailed my colleague "instead of sharing photos of our empty shelves why don't you spend your time getting us more product"
Imposter syndrome is so damn real (and sad). 75% of the time when I am presenting, talking through, responding etc work or thoughts I feel I am “so off, this isn’t right”. Then all it takes is (cont.)

I found this article and wondered what people here thought about it. It deals with teacher licensing tests. Among other things, it presents the case for a positive correlation between performance on a licensing test and performance in the classroom. It also argues there is an outsized number of teachers (over 50%) that don’t pass the licensing test on the first try. Any newer teachers out there who can weigh in on their teacher prep program and the licensing test experience? https://www.nctq.org/publications/Driven-by-Data:-Using-Licensure-Tests-to-Build-a-Strong,-Diverse-Teacher-Workforce/
What are the most lucrative exit opps for a generalist/strategy consultant at big 4 public sector consulting with security clearance? I’ve heard positive things about Google and Amazon/AWS and about some of the big defense firms (Lockheed). Is it actually possible to boost comp by 50% or so on exit from big 4 in this space?
McKinsey 🐠- does the firm hire managers from Big 4 firms as EMs instead of Associates? What’s the best time in the recruiting process to push for this?
How is the proposed tax holiday going to work? You don't pay taxes now but owe it by April 15 2021?
Every agency that put up a black square needs to take a another look at their hiring practices and realize that they have made it difficult for BIPOC folk to get in. Then they need to look at why so many who do get in end up leaving.
Teacher Autonomy: Have you ever felt peer pressured by your colleagues to teach lessons a certain way? All year 1 teacher on my team made it seem like there was only her way to teach a topic.
Do employers automatically put part of your bonus payout towards 401k based on your preset contribution %? Will they not do that if you’re already contributing close to the annual IRS limit?

First world problem butttt...wouldn’t it be nice if you could connect Netflix to your Bonvoy app? I’m tired of typing it every single week. 😂
Do partners of color actually give you work? There’s only a handful in my office and they are nice to me, even are candid about how white upper management is. But they’ve never thrown any work my way or even gotten to know me on a real professional level which is frustrating because they purport to support diversity initiatives, etc. and I’ve definitely tried to open a line of communication with each of them.
What's the best way to prepare a business case presentation? I've been invited to a final round interview for a medical device company as a process optimization consultant. They sent me a client case study. In the case there are pain points of the client, and some numbers to analyze their workflow and recommend them to use their medical devices for process improvement. I'm not sure how to stucture it. how would you approach it?
