Damn as a fellow analyst, I can't even decide where to have brunch on Sunday. How are you looking for a house with kid considerations already
I would say buy closer to downtown and save commute time, plus lots of fun activities to do. Once you have kid and he /she is 4-5 years old, move to Suburb with good school district
Rent downtown, buy REITs, enjoy life without stress of homeownership! 👍🏼
I'd say go the $500k townhome route if you can afford it and if it's a decent size...
Live close to the airport., like 10 to 15 minutes. You will thank me every time you have to catch that 5 am flight to your client or arrive home at 11 pm.
Any school district considerations?
Where do you spend most of your time? Do you plan to have kids? If so, which has a better school district? If you buy in the city, can you rent out if you move to the suburbs and make a profit? Use logic here!
Most likely will send kids to catholic school til high school.. if we can afford it.
@D1 - looking to have 3-4 kids...450k house closer to city has good schools. I spend more time now in the city but travel a lot on the weekend not as much. So future not as much. But only 25 minutes away from good bars on a Friday or Saturday night. I'd have to buy a town home even closer in for $500 to get into the rental market
@D2 what if there was a 450k - 500k was closer to town and in a good school district? But older house. Suburbs would get me a brand new home for $250. Commute would be bad if I was on a project downtown, but if not, commute could be easier. Or if I and staffed out of town it wouldn't matter as much where I live.
Where do you live that homes are this cheap??
Houston
Unless you are O&G, buy a house in the woodlands. You will thank me every time you have to catch that 5 am flight.
