For the first year… if you plan on traveling with your baby… and you are concerned about the many pieces needed to be assembled. I fully recommend the doona. It’s made traveling much simpler.

I looked at the “best” lists and narrowed it down to a few. Then found one of the strollers steeply discounted on prime day and the decision was made haha. Then put the car seat and bases on my registry. I’ve been really happy w the system we have.
The baby jogger city go 2…stroller, infant car seat, 2 bases. Highly rated, simple design, no crazy bells or whistles.
I’ve used this with my 3rd… didn’t know about it for my 1st or 2nd children. Only thing is no storage, but that can be as simple as a baby bag. And while I walk with it… I haven’t/wouldn’t go on a run with it.

We picked a car seat first, prioritizing brands that have at least some manufacturing or assembly in North America. Went with Clek because it’s HQ is in Toronto, and it’s super easy to install, really well designed, and has all the safety features we wanted. They partner with some stroller companies, so we looked at those and picked the bumbleride, which we like because it’s a California brand not manufactured in China (they manufacture in Taiwan). Our stroller is super easy to maneuver, has great wheels, folds easily, is nicely compact both in drive and store mode, and has a nice sized basket underneath.
Not Made in China hast been an important criteria as well and in Europe there are quite a few very nice options if you look for it. Costs just the same or less as a uppababy, bugaboo, cybex and co which are made in China…
Some of the brands are available in the US as well (peg Perego, inglesina, bumbleride, emmaljunga, hartan, angelcab, naturkind, Britax for car seats, renolux…)
Same btw for furniture and other baby goods, options for everything you need not made in China. I wish it were the same for adult goods!!
