Are you someone who thrives under high pressure? I’m definitely not. I’ve tried, but high-stress situations usually leave me feeling more scattered than focused. I’ve found that I do my best work under light to moderate pressure, just enough to stay motivated, but not so much that it becomes overwhelming. Curious how others feel about it.

I love it, but it comes at a cost. My life has been centered around my career way more than I had meant to let happen, and it's a hard habit to break out of. I work far too many hours and have no energy left for family, but the idea of moving to something more chill is depressing. Being bored drives me crazy.

That sounds really hard. I can see how the intensity becomes part of your identity, even if it costs you in other areas. Do you ever wonder what it’d take to dial things back without feeling like you’re losing momentum?

I think I'm good under some forms of pressure. For instance, if I know I have a deadline it motivates me to get focused and get a lot done. But I really don't enjoy being in a constant pressure cooker type of environment. There's a point where that starts to feel more hopeless than motivating.

Totally get that! There’s a big difference between pressure that energizes and pressure that drains. Deadlines can be great motivators, but when the pressure feels never-ending, it stops being productive and starts to feel like survival mode at least for me.

I do. This isn't intentional by any means, I'm just a world-class procrastinator and always have been. I can't get myself to focus unless I've got a deadline barreling toward me. It always works out just fine, but I still wish my brain was wired differently. It'd save me so much stress and sleeplessness.

Haha, I hear you - sometimes procrastination feels like both a curse and a weird kind of superpower! Deadlines definitely have that way of kicking our brains into gear, but yeah, the stress and late nights aren’t fun.

I wouldn’t say I thrive, but I make it through high pressure times well enough. Definitely not something I’d choose for myself

That makes total sense, sometimes just making it through high-pressure moments actually feels like a win in itself!

I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?
