I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

I got a Roth 403B years ago and began with $50 a month in. I have GOOD money manager to work with and I trust him. I think that is key. A lot of them are grifters who just want to make bank and don't really care about the job; they won't work with people who aren't giving a lot each month.
This Roth (pre-taxed at 2013 rates) is the best thing I ever did. A lot of people have more and different, but I think this is a good place to start.

I think a Roth account is such a good idea. Especially because no matter what job you change to you can add to it.
I started a Roth years ago. I started with $100 a month and every year when we got a little raise I put that in too. It adds up faster than you think.

That's a great idea! Its hard to make the initial effort but it's worth it.
I am not prepared. We have the MTRS here in MA. I am enrolled in retirement plus, but that is it. I still have 15 more years until retirement. I know it will go fast. Maybe this summer I will research and start a better plan.

I'm mire worriedthan anything. I have put off extra investment because it takes everything we make to just cover the bills and expenses. Now I am 60 with no plan.
You should speak to your school district retirement planner/specialist. They usually come to the schools frequently to advise and help staff to join in on saving up for retirement. You should already be paying into your pension account too.
