Career has stalled over the past 3 yrs and unclear why, or how to fix it. Fired from MBB as an experienced manager. Up til then I was a rockstar - rave reviews, early promos, etc. (Cont.)

Stay humble Strategy brothers and sisters. I’m covering a tech manager that has gone on leave and if I’m not fired by the end of the week it will be a miracle. BS isn’t helping. I need to know things😱

How do layoffs work if we’re all working remotely? For example: Does the direct manager and someone from HR do it? Does your computer stop working immediately? Do they ask you to mail your computer and ID badge in? Is it done via videoconference?

My wife is pregnant. Do the general courtesies of telling your manager/work beginning of 3rd trimester still apply during covid/work from home? Her industry has been hit hard and her job has been doing furloughs and layoffs. We can get pretty far without telling due to WFH but don’t want to put her boss in a bad position either.

If you knew your close coworkers were going to be included in layoffs, would you tell them? My manager gave me a heads up, in confidence, to assure me that I was safe, and I’d be betraying her trust.

Something’s been weighing on my mind. I messed up in a steering committee & tripped infront of the Sr. Client Stakeholders. I made a few other mistakes and was rolled off by my manager (SM) b/c I sucked and it was a higher burn engagement he needed a stronger BA. Now I find out he might’ve been laid off and I can’t help but to think it was my fault. We never really talked after this engagement but I feel like it’s my clumsiness that him fired and it makes me feel guilty and give a me anxiety.

Team was laid off. I was moved to a different service line. New service line manager salary is 10-20% higher than my current salary. No performance based raises this year at my firm. My utilization is low as I’m spending time getting caught up. Glad to still have a job but should I bring up a salary adjustment? Current plan is to wait until my utilization is on par with the rest of the team.

My colleague just got one and is freaking out - her manager is overallocated like crazy, the other two media planners were laid off, and she’s the only one left standing. Hi Everyone, this isn’t meant to b a flex just posting in case some1 needs to hear this. Back in Feb I was fired from a job I HATED. I moved across country for it & was miserable, they paid for my moving expenses so I felt trapped. I found a new job in Mar & have never been happier. My manager & team are incredible! Moral of the story, I know a lot of you have recently been let go - sometimes the worst things happen for the better. I was so scared I was a failure, but it’s gunna be ok 😊

The worst part of working overtime right after the longest tax season of your life is your spouse getting pissed at you for working. I’m a tax manager who has been the acting tax Director since my firm fired our last Director the week before Christmas. Work has been hell for the last 7 months and now on top of everything else, I’m in charge of payroll (we fired our payroll department in January but still kept like 25 clients for fun) and returns are due Friday. I’m depressed and exhausted.

Offered role with client for same amount of money but one level higher. Trying to figure out if Worth taking it. It’s my dream role but the pay is the same ( consultant to manager role). Reasons to leave D, work life balance, layoffs scare me, current client has good culture/ work to life balance is 9-5. Is it common to get offers from clients? If so maybe I can wait and get better offer.

Also today, my boss asks me to come in the office everyday next week. Should I say I don’t feel comfortable and just don’t go?What’s the worst it happen? Get fired lol
