I’ve been in the industry for 23+ years, 16+ of those spent as a Producing Branch Manager. I hold S7, S63, S66, S24 and I’ve completed the education for the CFP (need to pass the exam). I excel in relationship building and providing exceptional service. I’ve only been on the full-service side for the past 2 years and my book of managed money is about $10M, with another $10M+ being self-directed by clients. I’d love to find an RIA job, what type of role would be suggested?

Has anyone here (or anyone you know) pivoted from Wealth Management (CFP) into Tech/VC/PE? If so, what was your experience and do you have any recommendations?

I'm a 32 year old career changer (infrastructure PM) in pursuit of successfully passing the CFP exam. I'm having a hard time finding an entry-level fiduciary-path position within one of the big box firms. Does anyone know who and when these companies will be hiring? Thanks!

Currently work with providing investment services and advice to defined contribution and define benefits plans. OCIO relationship with some clients. Would this count towards the CFP work experience?

Current student majoring in finance. By the I graduate college I’ll have 5 years of full time experience with an RIA as an associate adv. Currently have S65, S7, S63 and life and health license. Also enrolled in CFP coursework and hope to have designation when I graduate . Highly confident in excel. I’ll be 22-23 then.

If after graduating I wanted to make a shift to IB/ PE, any advice on how to go about that? I’ll have significant financial services experience, but not IB / PE experience.

What’s your take on including an alphabet soup in your signature? Which of your designations do you intentionally exclude and why? ex PhD, JD, MBA, CPA, CFA, CAIA, PMP, PMI, CIMA, CFP, etc etc

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Hi there, I’m wondering if it’s worth it to get the CFA, if so, what career moves would you make and what positions to look for/apply? I have the Series 7, 66, 9/10, health and life insurance, did an accreditation program for private wealth advisor through my current work, studying for the CFP to sit for the exam sometime in 2023 and have the MBA. I currently work in private wealth management. Any other recommendations are welcome.

I’m pursuing my CFP thru the ChFC course work at the American College of Financial Services. Does anyone have textbooks for; HS 321 Income Taxation or HS 330 Fundamentals of Estate Planning? I have HS 311 & 328 to trade. (7th Ed. Money-Education)

I’m a December graduating Finance major in a CFP Educational program and I’m looking for financial advisor/consultant development programs to apply for with major financial firms. I’m currently interviewing with JP Morgan, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Vanguard and UBS for their versions of a FADP. Any insight into any of these programs or other firms with similar programs that I’ve missed?

What salary expectations should I have for a financial consultant development program right out of college?

I recently graduated with a bachelors in finance, and have recently got hired (5 months ago) as a financial analyst. Realistically I do FP&A for a company. I have realized I am not a huge fan of doing non stop spreadsheet all day. Am thinking I’d enjoy my career more by becoming a financial planner and getting my CFP certification. Maybe in the future opening up my own firm. Any advice on what career move to make next in order to accomplish this? CFP requires 3 years of relative experience.

Transitioning to Indy channel, and would like to see if anyone is looking to exit the business in the next 2-3 years. I am looking to purchase a practice. I am a CFP, AAMS and working on ChFC currently. We run a comprehensive financial planning business.

Just realized I can’t contribute to a Roth since my income is too high (I think). TC ~190k and wife makes around 90k. I’ve only been contributing for a few months now at the advice from a CFP friend (he never asked me what I made). Should I go back to 401k contributions or is there a better option here? I expect my retirement income (via pension) to be higher than my HHI now.

My question is should I stay with JP Morgan for a year ( don’t have to pay back my licenses) or just apply Financial Service Rep as Fidelity sponsors Series 7, 63 and CFP. I’ll be taking a pay cut Currently 73k salary including incentive at JP and Financial Rep at Fidelity 50-60k salary.

I am currently a financial analyst. I am considering getting my CFP certification and move more along that route in my career. Does FP&A work like budgets and forecasting count as work experience for the CFP requirements?
