I am taking the CFP exam in July. I currently have my RICP but I struggle with how to market the designation. I’m fearful that I will have the same problem with the CFP. What do you do to show people you have these designations aside from having the letters after your name? @

Can I start an LLC and manage people’s money through a fund account without being a licensed CFP or having passed the series 7, etc?
So I am a W-2 salaried CFP at a small IRA and I have a neighbor who runs his own practice and asked if I knew anyone who would be looking for part time paraplanning work. After thinking about it I got to wondering if its compliant and okay for an advisor to do something like that on the side for extra income or would that be considered a conflict on interest as an OBA?
Hey everyone . What is the best approach / program for a seasoned advisor to pass the CFP via self study program ? Thanks
Please debate: college football is less fun now that the top 3 spots each year in the CFP are Bama, Clemson & Ohio state with the 4th seemingly open to Georgia, ND, Oklahoma? If you agree, what would mix it up?
Currently in public accounting but want to specialize and focus on managing client's money (In terms of a budgeting perspective) and helping them save money. I assume this would go towards the tax planning and CFP route. Not sure how to ask my boss and present it this method. Thoughts?
I’m looking for a fully licensed FA with 3-5 years experience in the North Dallas,Tx area. Small BOB preferred. The position is salaried with discretionary bonus. The advisor must be people oriented and desire to obtain the CFP designation.
I don't have anyone else who gets this, but I hit my personal goal this year in almost every category; revenue, income, AUM growth, etc. Our fiscal year ends in October and I ended the year with a bang. Just super excited and I hope everyone else knows, this business is worth it when you put in the time and effort! Edit: also passed CFP in March!
At what point in my career should I consider taking the CFP? Almost 4 years in the business and have my AAMS and CRPC designations already.
Thoughts on the CFP designation? Is it still worth considering or have stringent regulations muddied the waters? My goal is to have as many certifications under my belt as possible (to serve my clients the best I can) and I’m wondering which path I should pursue.
1) What’s a globally-recognized certification/designation that you would recommend to someone with a non-traditional finance background? Would like to level-up my career 2) can anyone comment on the CFP?
Is it unrealistic of me to sit for the CFP exam in March if I start studying next week? I have three years of experience as an FA and I plan to study 2 hrs/night Mon-Thurs and all day on Sat/Sun
Do CFP CPA CFA and MBA make that big of a difference in the RIA world? I’ve seen very successful individuals with all 3 and without any at all
I am looking to drop my series 7 and join an RIA. I’ve finally accepted that the BD environment is a terrible fit for me. I would like to join an RIA team because I’m just over 5 years in and I would like to have some mentors to continue learning from, but if I can’t find the right fit then my plan is to launch my own. Where to start looking for an established RIA? I have not completed my CFP yet.

Hey fishbowlers! Question concerning compensation for an FA assisting the main advisor on a $135M book. I am doing a lot of the work now as he is going to retire in 4-5 years and he is taking a step back. I do all the investment management in the account. Only 4 years of experience but I've picked this up quick, am series 9-10 licensed and halfway through the CFP. What is fair compensation for someone like me? I don't know what is typical or fair.
Does anyone have thoughts on leaving big 4 to work at a private wealth management firm? Have a CPA would consider getting CFP if it would help fit the requirements. Had someone reach out and haven’t done a ton of research yet just wanted to get some base level opinions.
13 years experience and no college education. Best way to go about earning my BA and taking the CFP?
My paraplanner is wanting to get started with his CFP. It's been a while since anyone in my office has needed to go through a program. Looking for advice, what path should I suggest; Kaplan, Bryant University, Boston CFP, something else I don't know about? Looking for your ideas on what might be best to use as an educational source for the CFP these days?!? Thank you.
I’m considering leaving Public Accounting to become a Certified Financial Planner. Have any of you other fishies looked into this? What are some things to consider?!
Is getting your CFP worth the investment? I am in my 30s and plan on staying in this industry as an FA until I retire. Lately I’ve been getting asked if I offer any fee-only options and I know you can’t be fee-only unless you’re a CFP... Do we see the industry headed this way?
Fellow young female FAs— How are you making it in the industry? I am getting burnt out from people not taking me seriously no matter what I do. You’d think being a CFP candidate, dressing professionally, and knowing my stuff would get me there but it doesnt. [more in comments]
Looking into certifications like the CFP or CFA but they’re so expensive and I can’t afford the upfront cost right now. Are other certs like APMA and CDFA worth it?
Any CPAs here also a CFP (Certified Financial Planner)? What was the process like getting the CFP designation?
Those who have their CFP: how have you used/marketed it effectively to enhance your business? Just earned mine and curious how others have benefited.

Seeking benefit clarification - US Health Indursnce says “Employee cover starts frm $17.65 PCM w/ $400 per month contribution by employer”. What does this mean? Worried about mental health costs/srvcs

I just graduated with my MHA and took the opportunity at a Tier 3 firm. My goal late in my studies was to be at MBB. What can I do going forward to still reach that goal at some point in my career? Thank you for any advice and I do regret I didn’t know about the opportunities of consulting in undergrad or early graduate school.
Partners - Do you ever take vacations? I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
