I had better luck once I stopped trying to include every job detail. I kept highlights and moved the rest to LinkedIn.
Don't be afraid to cut out very old roles. They don't need to see the job that got you jumpstarted. Make sure you're being very concise, including with your introduction. Also, for folks with a lot of experience, it's normal to have a longer resume. I think the two-page rule really applies to those much newer to the workforce. They're going to get the majority of what they want to know from the intro and most recent information. A job from 10 years ago on page three isn't going to be the thing that has them calling you for an interview or not. The # of pages rule is meant to keep people from drowning important details in paragraphs. That's what kills interest. If you're concise and that means four pages because you've got that much relevant experience? Then send them four pages.
