First year manager here. Looking to exit to industry but recruiter is trying to put me in a staff accountant role that is a pretty big pay decrease. They say it’s the only role applicable to my skills. Is this reasonable? I just really need to get out of public.

I am about to be promoted to senior at a PA firm: is it a step down to take an industry staff accountant role? I don't know how I feel about being a 'staff when I worked hard to get that senior title.

Looking to get out of public accounting and applied for a Staff Accountant position. The company is known for having a great culture and I’m thinking the schedule will be much better. I’m thinking the compensation will be similar in the new position as what I’m making now so I wouldn’t be getting the normal jump in pay people expect when leaving public accounting. If I were to be offered the position, should I take it? Should I expect a better position if I’m looking for an accounting type role?

Have an offer for staff accountant role but it’s only a 17% pay bump. External recruiter says that’s the max, but this was the first offer made by the company, would they really max out on the first offer? Is there anyway to negotiate, I was hoping for 20%?

A position i applied for is “Staff Accountant and Office manager”. It has office duties such as perform general office support, maintain office supplies, and filing as well as all the staff accountant tasks. I asked why they combined the role and they said they wanted an accountant to control the admin/ costs and approve expenses. I’m currently in PA- would this be a reg flag on a resume to accept a role like this? They are paying pretty well.

Would going from Risk Assurance at a Big 4 accounting firm to a Staff Accountant position in industry be a wise career move? I think the Staff Accountant position would be better suited for my interests and life, but it’s almost as if I’m starting over on a new path after getting a couple of years of experience in Risk Assurance.

Is an MBA going to do anything for me as I look to move up in the audit world in the future? Or should I just focus on doing quality work and not waste my time with an MBA?

Does networking/client-facing energize or drain you? Share your thoughts. For me personally it’s the best part of my job (I find company politics draining, not human interactions tho tbh). Which is interesting because I’m an ambivert (not full-on extrovert). Was at non client-facing job prior to consulting and it felt so dry.
