One thing I would consider is the cost of living here too. In the last four years it has gotten really expensive. Id wager the with the increased cost of living here (just did a quick google search) you would be making a similar amount you are now. It is a beautiful state though if you like doing outdoor things. Job market has tons of opportunities too hence why things have got so expensive really quick.
Salt lake gets snow, but it’s not nearly as cold as the Minnesota winters. The air quality can be bad but it’s not every day- typically lasts a day or worst case several when inversion sets in.
Summers are hot. Very hot. The mountains are an easy 30 min drive though and you can’t beat the outdoor lifestyle Utah grants you.
Cost of living is high despite whatever you’re reading about median housing prices. If you want to buy in a nice-ish area, expect to pay $650k and up. Nicer areas, $800k +
Job market is good here and we have a ton of industry. Hill AFB attracts huge business for engineers in the defense landscape with the major companies. South of Salt lake is a tech hub aka silicon slopes. I’d argue the job market has more opportunities than what you’d see in Minnesota and likely higher paying due to cost of living.
It’s an incredible place if you like to ski, hike, camp etc. but it’s also a culturally very odd place. Keep that in mind when you’re considering your options. If you have kids, breweries are a no go which can get annoying after a while. Happy to answer any questions as we moved from the east coast
