Do you know of anyone who has completely left the accounting field? I would love to hear about their story. I’m realizing that I am inherently not well suited for this job. I am a people person (ENFP) who wants a career that adds real value to the world and I’m not particularly detail oriented. I find myself struggling to find meaning. I have been trying to keep a positive attitude, but recognize that it isn’t sustainable.
Advisory in Accounting
How do you see advisory travel post Covid. Do we still need to be travel to client site all the time for FaceTime? Or are all these things now can be done remote?
Have been looking for accounting advisory jobs and can’t seem to find any. Are firms hiring again?
Got a referral to PwC from a friend for a experienced audit associate position in a sector I am interested in that I can’t get into at my current firm and am waiting to hear back. Currently an A1 about to be an A2 at another big 4 and already have the CPA passed. After some thought I think I would be much more interested in the CMAAS group from my research. If I get the interview, would it be bad to tell the recruiter this and what are the chances of it working out?
I’ll be promoted next year to senior but I’m in a niche role where I don’t see myself long term. Should I make a job switch now or should I wait to get promoted to senior? I currently have 1.5 years of experience.
Anyone here transfer into advisory from assurance? What was your experience? How long did it take?
I joined a SoftBank/Arm owned company, after the interview they showed me an unofficial spreadsheet with a bonus structure of 30% + 25% of 30% (performance based). However I was told that it’s complex so I should look at final numbers. When they made me the offer, it stated 15% bonus which I ignored because the recruiter had promised me 30% + 25% of 30% (performance based). Now, after three months he says that I will get only 15% - I feel cheated and naive for believing the recruiter.
If your firm is hiring interns, please DM me... my friends who’re getting their MBAs (specifically from Columbia and NYU Stern) are looking for internships and clearly coronavirus hasn’t helped them. Thanks for the help.
Anyone work in learning and development at a big 4 or other? How hard is it to transitioning that role from consulting? Are you hiring? I feel that this is such an interesting topic especially now! Would love to be involved in this as a career
How do you explain your job to ppl? - your friends - girl/guy you meet in a seedy bar - mother who still thinks you should be a Dr - generally ppl who ask what a consultant is?
Can anyone give insight on the ease of transfering between BU in the same firm? (I'm in Assurance wanting to try Advisory). Also what certification (MBA aside) would help me when applying?
ADHD in financial management. Curse or blessing when you do about a million things in a day for your clients and staff? Always suspected I had it. Never diagnosed.
