Has anyone got any advice about potentially asking their employer for a pay rise? I know this can be tricky to go about. A close colleague of mine has exceeded her goals and been in the position for nearly 2 years now and feels she deserve a bit of a pay increase for all her hard work.
What’s a step by step plan to prepare for asking your boss for a raise?

Documenting accomplishments and those exceeded goals can go a long way. That, along with comparable salaries for location and experience, can boost your chances of successfully asking for a raise. Get that together and schedule a 1:1. It certainly sounds well deserved.

Have you been on any training recently? You need to get some points together to justify why you deserve a pay rise. What do you have to offer them. Good luck!!

Yes this employee has had some recent development training for her job role which should indicate to some sort of pay rise in my opinion.

Do your research on salaries. List your wins and how you’ve added value. Pick a good time, ideally after a success. Practice your pitch... clear, confident, and respectful. Be ready for any answer, and if it’s a no, ask what steps you can take to get there.

Asking for a raise can definitely feel tricky, but preparation makes a big difference. A simple step-by-step plan could be:

Gather evidence – List achievements, goals met, and any added responsibilities.
Know your worth – Research market rates for the role.
Pick the right time – Ideally after a big win or during performance reviews.
Practice the conversation – Keep it confident, clear, and professional.
Be open to discussion – Even if the answer isn’t immediate, it can open doors.

Hi Fishes, Y.O.E 7.5+ years. Tata Consultancy TCS is offering 25LPA including variable pay and everything. So just 15% increment on my current salary since they mentioned I am leaving my current organization within 1 year.

They mentioned 8-12% is VP plus 80k from that salary is paid at the end of each year. Is it a good enough salary for 7.5+ yoe candidate. Also any heads up for the things I should look out for will be really helpful.
