What are some useful goals for a Senior Consultant looking to get ready for a Manager role? My Coach doesn’t have much interest in my development and I’m in the process of looking for a new one, but meanwhile I’m working on building my own list of skills I need to work to become a good manager. What does a brilliant Engagement Manager look like? Any thoughts are much appreciated!
Uncle D hit me up, what’s a “Senior Analyst” at Deloitte’s Global Cybersecurity (Deloitte Global GTS) ? Is that a Consultant or a Senior Consultant position? Or is it based on my interview? How much should I ask for?
Looking to jump over to Capcos Capital Markets division as a senior consultant and will soon be discussing salary expectations with the hiring manager. I’ll be asking for 125-130k. Is this a reasonable range? I have 3.5 YOE and a Masters in Finance.
Have any fishes from this bowl ever moved from Senior Consultant to an analyst position at an investment bank/asset manager? Keen to know whether it ended up feeling like a step down/starting over? Only asking as a lot of recruiters are approaching me for ODD analyst roles and I’m not sure whether I should play hardball for an associate/AVP type role. Thanks!
I left as a C 6 months ago to industry for a promotion . Just had a recruiter ping me about a SC position in a different area. Would it be possible to boomerang as a SC?
24 year old senior consultant in corporate tax, on track to become a manager next July. Only thing is I don’t want to be in tax for the rest of my career.. any good exit paths that anyone can recommend? Potentially interested in management consulting, joining a finance team as an accountant or trying banking. Also hoping not to have to take much of a pay cut where possible. Any ideas/thoughts/advice?
Trying to get into energy/sustainability consulting—no direct experience in the topic besides my undergrad degree, but 3-4YOE in consulting/client-facing roles and am super interested in that sector. Any ideas on firms to target? Ideally would be about an SC-level role
I’m making 85k in Cleveland in the big 4 as an SC. Currently interviewing for a Director of Business Analytics position at a smaller local company (~20 person, $50M annual revenue local company growing at 40%) $110k base salary. Thoughts on if I should continue to pursue this position?
Hi, I am interviewing for a senior consultant role at EY's People Advisory Services. I have about 8 years prior experience before consulting doing Marketing and now about 2 years 8 months experience doing relevant consulting in change management. Could someone share what they know about the salary range for this role?
Current role: Entry level cyber consultant, ~1 YOE post grad, 75k, leadership has floated the idea of early promotion to senior in May (for whatever that is worth) Opportunity: boutique CRM firm at a senior consultant level, 100k What’re the bowl’s thoughts? Better to stay at a larger firm with more potential long term growth, or switch now for the immediate pay bump and more start up vibes meaning potential rapid leadership position?
Interviewing for a Business Transformation (public sector) in DC. Senior consultant position, 4 YOE - is 110k a good ask? Maybe a range of 110-115? Also, Should I be asking more details about bonus before speaking with the team?bI already had first call with HR, should I wait until final rounds to discuss compensation? I have current offer of 95k +20-25k bonuses, but with smaller, boutique firm, not public sector. Weighing both sides here
What are the average health tech/Medtech exit salaries for C/SC/M from Huron/ZS/IQVIA/EY life sciences
Are Transformation roles in industry worth it? I have about 5 yrs of experience (1.5 YOE in consulting, Senior Consultant level) and I’m thinking of leaving consulting for a permanent role in industry doing internal transformation. I feel like I’m underpaid and the promotions are super slow and unlikely due to Covid. Could anyone please help provide any thoughts on the pros and cons of doing internal transformation projects in industry? How do different industries compare? Thanks for sharing!
Offer from a F100 (US based) within one of their EU offices. Offered title „BizDev Manager“ and will not give me „Director“ As position is planned as Mgr. Question: 4 YOE XP as SC/Mgr @Big4 & 4 yrs
Is 110-120k a reasonable TC range to request during hiring for a B4 Senior Consultant with 3YOE total?
Hi folks. I'm a senior consultant with 4 years of work ex in IAM - SailPoint IIQ. Let me know if your firm is hiring
What’s a good exit for supply chain? I have an undergrad and masters in supply chain management from top ranked supply chain programs. 3 YEO in industry, 1 YEO SC software consulting, 1 YEO boutique consulting. Currently making 100k TC in a senior consultant role. Any exit suggestions?
Getting haunted by the fact I didn’t get promo for 2 years and just got it this year. The peer then is my (thin line) day to day reporting manager who still leans on me. While I respect her position, I’m feeling like I don’t have the independence of “running the show”. The client has been ours for over few years so I can’t even make “relationships” work. No team reports to me directly so feeling like I’m still a SC but with a title. I hate bringing low energy but what can I change about this?
What’s the difference between exiting at C vs M (or SC)? I’m interviewing for a Product Manager role that would net at least a 20% salary increase. At the same time, I’m having second thoughts about leaving consulting given the current trend of layoffs.
Is anyone familiar with Deloitte's US Internal Strategy practice and willing to connect? I plan to apply to their Senior Consultant position and was hoping to connect with someone in this segment ahead of my application. Thanks!
Finding it very difficult identifying an exit opportunity into industry(preferably tech) from a generalist cyber security path. Have done resilience, cyber policy, privacy, IAM, data protection, etc and am a high performer that manages projects as the acting manager, although a SC. However, I can’t identify a fast ball to cater it to roles in the industry. Anyone have tips that you can share on how to choose roles to apply for? Any inputs will be much appreciated!
Thoughts on making a move as a Exp SC or waiting until likely Manager promo at YE 2021? Non b4 advisory role with bulk of exp in Internal Audit and SOX. Have tried to get staffed on more diverse projects with little success over the last 4y. Pretty disheartened with current trajectory and project work. Any advice appreciated.
SM at F500 strategy role vs SC at Big4, similar TC let's say around 150-160k. Which do you you choose?
You guys are great, but consulting might not be for me so I’m considering yeeting out. My question: as a staff-level consultant, how much would it help me to wait until I am promoted to senior consultant before leaving? Im going to start a business but if it fails I want to have a decent resume to hop into another role. I’m fresh out of college and I have literally no idea what I’m doing. Thanks all. Insults not appreciated, I am a delicate flower.
Anyone heard of Biovid? A recruiter reached out to me about a SC position there but have never heard of the place. Looks super small from my initial research. Thanks FB fam!
What is typical pay for 2YOE? Starting position as senior consultant in financial services (FSO). How much can I get if I jump to a similar b4?
SC at ~ 180K TC. I recently got an offer from my current client for a VP role (they had pitched other roles and I declined due to the comp difference not being high enough). They came back a few months later with a 450K TC VP offer that really surprised me... While this seems like an obvious move, the client is really shitty and fairly small (~1B in rev). Am I crazy for thinking of turning this down? My GF and I combined make about 400K so it’s incrementally not that much to us.
New manager at a Big 4, but I’ve been a consulting manager for a while. An SC on the team said they “refuse” to report to me because I’m new. Our partner told me to get this SC in line and that I have his full support- but he apparently never told her I was coming to join the team to manage her😬. How do I set this SC straight without totally squashing her spirits? For context, she wants to take on more management role and be my “peer” but she’s a brand new SC...she’s not close to being ready.
Any fishes that did PMO consulting and exited to industry? What kind of exit opportunities are available at SC and M level? How much was your salary hike? MBA here with 2+ years of consulting experience.
How would you define digital strategy consulting? Which companies have the best practice in this field? What skill sets/experiences are required for a SC role?
SC with 6 YOE. Is it realistic to aim for an exit opportunity to big pharma at SM/AD roles? Appreciate any insights.

So I’m a second year consultant. Like most, I was disappointed with compensation this year and am pretty bearish on my future earning potential here. I’m currently interviewing with a big tech company (not FAANG but close) for a position with substantially higher pay as a business analyst. I really wanted to stay til SC/M but the money is too good to pass up. I guess my question is: are there any major downsides to exiting to industry “too early?” Has anyone done it and regretted it?
Anyone have thoughts about taking a post production workday SC role at Alight? I’m in interviews and excited but don’t know much about them. Tired of working extra and not getting anything for it. Not sure I want to stay in IMPL space for much longer. Enhancement/post production support seems interesting.
What’s the deal with getting promoted during GC process? I am currently a C but up for SC next year (sept) if it goes through. If I file my GC as a C this year but get promoted to SC next year, do I need to start over? Conversely, if I file GC with future position (SC) but not make my promo, will I get screwed?
Was extended an offer for SC position at a smaller consulting firm. Originally asked for 130K base, offer given was closer to ~110K base with ~10K in performance bonus. When countering with desired 125K base, due to other opportunities, base was raised to 115K. Would be happier with 120K base, but is it worth pushing for?
Anyone know of life science or health care consultancies hiring at the consultant (potentially senior consultant)/manager level?
🐠 fam, looking for some advice. Currently an SC making 100k. I have been acting as Manager on all of my engagements for the past year; identifying new sale oppy's, leading pursuits, getting follow-on work signed, etc. Have very consistent feedback from my clients about the quality of my work, some even bluntly asking "why aren't you a Manager yet"... all consultants are underpaid, so I know I'll just go play my little 🎻 ... but really, I'm not being compensated for the role I'm filling [cont]
Anyone here with experience interviewing for a Program Manager position at Fitbit or other tech firms? From description it seems to be focused on supply chain and I want to understand the key things they would be looking for from past experience so as to prepare the right stories for the interview.
Can someone break down post-mba exit opps by factors like comp, WLB, culture, etc? Trying to decide where to be in 5-10 years
Always planned to get my MBA and am 80% done with my apps. I started a new role as a data analyst on my project and I’m worried if I go to school I’ll miss out on working in tech for good
That moment early in the project when it all starts to click and you start killing it at your role 😏
What is the role of the ECD at agencies and why do we need it? Maybe our company’s ecd sucks but I’m struggling to find value that role offers working teams.
Early professional in need of advice: I am wanting to change jobs to get a role in the realm of data analytics/big data and want to know what certifications I could get as part of this goal? I am looking at the Cloudera Certified Data Analyst as a candidate can anyone here tell me if this one would be a good idea? And if it is attainable as an early professional? Thanks
Any tips on how one could transition from a role in paid search to a more brand side product marketing manager role? Have about 4yrs of paid search experience and a year of technical sales. Really unhappy in the paid media space.
How can you work in consulting if you want to take pride in your work? My senior manager just told me that the key to success in my current role is emotionally detaching from my work so that I don't care when my controlling client insists I do something absolutely stupid that I wholeheartedly disagree with. How can anyone truly enjoy being a professional pushover??
How much $ would you ask for if going for a product manager role at a tech company and have 4-5 years of consulting experience?
What do you find is the biggest difference between the AAE role and AE in terms of roles and responsibilities?

I left my Brand Marketing Manager role where I led strategy, creative, and media - is it possible to find in-house roles that let you do it all with 5yrs experience + proven success?
I’m struggling to break it to my referral that I got rejected from their firm. I feel like I let them (and myself) down. I’m overthinking this, aren’t I?

Does anyone know how does Facebook evaluate you for a position, specifically at an onsite interview? Are you able to get a good raise considering consulting salaries are bit at the higher end?
So it’s that time of year... Is there anyone who has successfully renegotiated salary after YE comp is announced? Any suggestions?

Curious what would you do if recession hits? Does going to MBA sounds like a safe plan? Or keep working till the economy gets better? Just curious your thoughts.
Westin Long Beach or Le Meridien Santa Monica? Or other suggestions? Looking for a hotel near beach in LA, SPG/Marriott. Will be with my SO of 4 months for her birthday.
Anybody here transferred from a IT consulting Big 4 role to a product manager role? How was the transition? Any tips and pointers on how to make this transition? How was the learning curve?
Question, if projection at MBBs is way faster and pay is much higher than Big 4. Why would you (at big 4) not leave to MBBs (if you can)? More hours and up-or-out seem the only plausible reasons ...
Our company usually does performance evaluations in June of each year. Our pay philosophy is not clear. We usually give a COLA in January each year, somewhere around 2% and if an employee performed well, they get above the 2%. I have suggested we change our process to have a clear pay philosophy with increases tied to performance, with goals tied to overall goals of the organization. What is your process? Are you doing performance evals during COVID?
Anyone here have to take the Achiever Assessment for an interview? PE firm that I’m interviewing with is requesting to so trying to see what others have experienced
Best way to bounce back after a big failure on a project? Not a stupid mistake or sloppy error that I didn’t catch, just straight up feel too dumb to keep up
If firms go exclusively remote, I have zero reason to remain living near “home office”. Likelihood we’ll shift to that model, and can live wherever?
Annoyed client work dropped on us last minute for the weekend with Sunday turn around. Trying to squeeze during a full weekend of family stuff planned months ago.
BCGers, I get an email today from BCG recruiting stating that they will be interviewing in coming months and they will retain my resume. Meanwhile, they would be hosting a webcast....
