Hi everyone, I have a little over 1 year of career gap due to family responsibilities. I was looking for the job now and recently got a call from a recruiter, but she mentioned that because of my gap they couldn't move forward. This made me worried .Has anyone faced this? How much does it impact the hiring chances?
Any suggestions or shared experiences would be realpy helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Don worry. I too have a gap. There are plenty of companies who will not care about career breaks and will hire you. Just be positive. This was not meant for you so they did not. When the time is right you will get selected and start working. Don't be heavy on yourself. Give some time .

I agree, when I joined an org after Gap I was offered almost the same package as my last. But I felt people were nice, people who interviewed or HR were never rude. They accepted Gap and made an offer although it was the same. I tried my best to convince them but they were like this is the max we can offer. I accepted because having a job or getting one opportunity to start working again felt more important. And within a span of 4 years when I left the company my salary was more than double. I got a decent hike when I joined a new company.

Overall if I see now when I joined company with same package I felt bad but now when I see my package has actually trippled. If I had let go of that one offer I had because they offered the same package.. you never know till when I would be searching.

So at least what I feel is first get a job once u have u can later try to get promotion in org or switch with a good package in a few years. If ur gap increases it will create some problem.
