Does anyone have experience or thoughts about life after big law (whatever that means)? I'm a third year tax associate and seriously worrying whether I've chosen a practice area that is too "niche" to find something after. Do I even want to practice law? Do I just need a vacation?? Any and all insights are welcome! ^ The above was cross posted to another bowl, but also wondering whether it's stupid to leave big law and maternity leave / benefits at this stage (planning on kids in a few years)
I received an offer from RSM to be a senior tax associate... How are your spring and fall busy seasons? What is the salary range for a senior? What are the benefits? Thanks in advance!
Leave a secure but underpaid, full time, toxic af job or go freelance and get the title bump at and indie agency? Healthcare etc scares the $hit out of me
I should be more sensitive but I think it's fucked up to start a new job and tell your boss after a week that you will be out on maternity leave in 4 months.
Do you spend your entire per diem? Or do you prefer low-cost food options (chipotle for example) and save the rest of the per diem?
When you’re comparing offers how you put a value against benefits like vacation allowance? Just calculate the value of a paid day as a % of base?
Do you think that I could get Deloitte to pay for a Masters of Science in Social Work as part of their tuition reimbursement program (not GSAP)?
How to become a morning person? I see a lot of benefits but doesn’t come to me naturally. Tips?
Have a friend who is a dentist with a masters in health administration. Fresh out of graduate school. He really wants to get into healthcare consulting. Will a firm even consider him (contd.)
What would you choose if you were in your mid 20s- A great company in a very tiny city or a relatively unknown company in a big city. Let's assume the pay, benefits etc are great for both.
My 6 month contract is about to be up. I love it here, but need the benefits of a full time job. I know they plan on extending my contract, but I need it to be full time or I’ll have to start looking
Pissed off a managing partner, what to do? Here is what happened: - talked about a way forward, agreed on next steps (not clearly enough) - I did the wrong next steps given we had apparently different understandings (realised it afterwards; no severe risks resulted) - now he accuses me that I purposely misunderstood him and that I acted this way to gain personal benefits of it (wtf) - doesnt believe me that it was due to failed alignmemt - insists that I am lying How to deal with that?
Which company manages PwC 401k plans? I’m trying to rollover but support is really not being helpful.
Considering an offer from a boutique consulting firm. Accenture matches 6% 401k while the boutique only matches 4%. Is this a huge difference at the end of the day, or am I overthinking it?
Ex-kpmg employee here so can’t post in that bowl but does anyone here know how pension plan works? I was vested based on time with firm but does the money stay there til retirement or can you request lump sum payout and invest it how you want? Thanks!
Advice needed! Have just been asked to Freelance with W2 form. Without any benefits. Is this even possible? Would I lose my eligibility for Unemployment insurance once the gig ends? I was laid off from my full time agency job 2 months ago and have already freelanced as self employed on an LLC since. Seems like they’re being tight and taking advantage of the current climate.
What are the benefits to rolling over a 401k as opposed to leaving it as is after switching firms?
What’s the salary range for managing director at Navigant or FTI consulting in healthcare.
Been doing a lot more 401k biz and want to eventually do that alone. Want to complement the 401k with group DI/group life. Is it possible with smaller companies? What about group life? Any experience?
Noob question: how can I know my tax rate when i retire and start withdrawing money from 401k?
How do y’all distribute your 401k contributions? Evenly spaced to meet the max throughout the year or frontload contributions to get the money invested ASAP and hopefully make gains sooner?
Has anyone negotiated a clause where you can’t be fired/laid off for a certain amount of time after starting a new job?
Ah! If the clients ever realize the number of billable hours wasted on making slides just ‘look’ pretty!!!!
Got a new role offer that is internal. Might have the option to choose from any city in US. I would consider sf, ny, Seattle… basically where I already have a lot of friends. Thoughts? Single early 30s. Looking to find someone to settle down

If you’re on the bench and get an external job offer is it worth giving a 2 week notice? What’s the point? I want to be professional but I also want to get paid until my start date. What should I do?
What am I worth in terms of TC? SDE, 6 YOE, background at a startup and 2 mid-level companies, MS degree. Assuming I'm desirable enough for interviews at a handful of good places. Not based on a previous salary, just objectively.

Starting at McK (NA) next month and my training just moved from in-person to virtual - are you all seeing a decline in business travel because of covid concerns? I'd heard that a lot of teams had started to travel over the past few months

Anybody have a Delta drink voucher for someone who is desperately hungover and spent way too much at a bachelor party over the weekend? TIA, compadres
I feel like I’m on the outside looking in and I don’t like what I see. I haven’t returned to teaching this year because I was overwhelmed by what was being asked of us and chose to use all of my sick time instead. From this perspective, I see teachers being used and abused. I see teachers asking questions about situations that should never be tolerated. We are the professionals. Why are we allowing this? It’s the Stockholm Syndrome for education. We provide a valuable service. Remember that.
