To add to CHS1, all of those extra-curricular jobs around here have a separate contract. Let your admin/AD know you need a break and won’t be taking on those additional duties next year. And prepare for the strong arm sales pitch and guilt trips to stay. Remember, they own you from 8-3, but after 3 is up to you. (Think about being a ref - you set your limits of when you work and the pay could be better in the long term.)
If it’s not in your teacher contract then you are not contractually obligated. I’ve taken short breaks in my career from coaching to further my education and it was fine with my admin and AD. Hopefully you have a good relationship with them and they truly value you and education over athletics.

They can't force you to coach legally, but just be aware of where you are in the seniority list and what the school code says in your state.
In Illinois, before you're tenured, a district can decide not to rehire you without giving you a reason (though they usually do). It's possible if a district needs people to coach badly enough they might decide to let you go and hire someone who is willing to coach. I would say that's unlikely, but definitely not impossible.
Get a good feel for the situation and make sure your teaching position is secure before you make a decision about it.
