I'm an in-house counsel at a national company. Our GC is leaving. I’m the only other in-house attorney, and I’ve only been here for 4 months. I like the job. Previously, I was a 6th-year associate. The CEO asked me to stay and implied a larger role, but doesn't have a clear picture of what that looks like. Asked for my help in redefining. Even unsure as to timing or whether we'll hire another GC. Questions for Fishbowl: (1) benefits or pitfalls? (2) questions or requests you'd have for CEO?

Have an offer to move to a Fortune 500 company as a finance manager and an offer to move to a small PE owned company ($200m in revenue) as a business strategy manager. Same pay. Small company has me working with CFO/CEO/PE firm directly and large company has more benefits and defined career progression. Also the small company doesn’t have maternity leave and only has short term disability whereas the F500 has 1 month leave + disability. Which to take (kids in 2-3 years)? High impact or security?
