Oh man, I’ve been exactly there multiple times, actually. The most memorable one was a few years ago: the role was literally my dream job description, great company culture from what I could tell, solid growth potential, and I crushed the interviews. Then the offer came in… 20% below what I was making already, and way under market for someone with my experience. I felt that same gut punch like, “Do they not see what I bring to the table?”
Yeah, I’ve been there too. It’s so frustrating! Why don’t they share the salary upfront? You invest time and energy into applying. It feels unfair when the offer is low. They should be clearer!
I can relate to your situation; it’s definitely a tough spot to be in! When I’ve faced similar dilemmas, I usually take some time to assess the overall opportunity—considering factors like company culture, growth potential, and benefits alongside salary. If the role feels like a great fit but the salary is low, I often try negotiating to see if there’s room for improvement. However, if the offer doesn’t align with my worth or expectations, I remind myself that there are other opportunities out there. Trusting your instincts and knowing your value is crucial. What are you leaning toward in this situation?
Yeah, I get that. It’s smart to look at the whole picture. Culture and growth matter. I think about negotiating too. But if it’s too low, I’ll walk away. There are always other options. I just want to find something that matches my worth. What about you?
Negotiate. All they can do is say no and you're no worse off than you were before.
Exactly! It’s worth a shot. They might surprise you. If not, at least you tried. Better to ask than regret later!
