I can’t speak to a lot and I think you should be careful about doing too much googling. BUT from personal experience I can say if your AMH number is below 1 you’re going to want to think about your timeline. 1 or under is considered a low egg count number. I was told when I was at a .7 I was going to want to think about IVF.
The above aside if you have been on the pill for a long time your number could be artificially low. That’s what happened to me. So I still have time to try my preferred method which is IUI.
Gotcha, thanks. I just got my AMH numbers back and it’s 4.2, which feels high at 27, but I guess I’ll see what my doctor says? I also had suspected PCOS earlier in my life but think that’s been debunked since then… so I guess I’m flying blind here

Tons. Check out resources like Modern Fertility- you could even do a test by mail (depending on where you are in your cycle) with them and review the results with a nurse before then!

Are you just looking for AMH, FH, etc? definitely can find some charts and articles online. Don’t go too far down a rabbit hole and understand those alone do NOT tell the whole story.

Yeah, don’t google it. Seriously. Just wait for the convo with the RE.
Thanks everyone! This is all super helpful. I’m opting for elective egg freezing (27F), so my circumstances may be a bit different, but it sounds like I should still educate myself a bit and go into my conversation ready to listen.

My RE did not tell me that I had DOR despite my results being clearly low. Its best to educate yourself on the process. You may have a great doctor but in my experience they are busy professionals who may choose the path of least resistance and gloss over a harder conversation. Dont try to glide through this thinking you are your doctor's highest priority. If you are susceptible to anxiety, perhaps find a friend or partner who can do some targeted research or otherwise, certainly find your balance /accept tradeoffs.
Also, think of it has getting one shot at 20 minutes with a highly educated person accountable for your care. Do you want to do some prep and come with knowledgeable questions or accept everything thats said at face value because you dont know enough to counter or ask more questions. If you move forward with an egg retrieval (assumption), you may not hear from your dr. again. Its all managed by nurses/ virtually.

I had preliminary consult, baseline testing, second consult and then started admin, cycle-specific baseline test and drug protocol for egg freezing. They didn't require further consults although perhaps the dr could have been available via appt.
