Firm passed me over for partnership but seems to be bribing me to stay with a bonus that is about 75% of my base pay. I feel good about the money but shitty about not making partner. Anyone else in this happy/sad boat?

6.8 % inflation rate…good thing everyone got a 6.8% salary increase during performance evaluations…right? *sad junior associate noises*

I used to be in consulting but moved over to social impact two years ago. I found out I’m getting laid off EOM due to budget cut and I’m really sad. I really don’t have the motivation to apply for new roles, interview etc when usually I actually love that process. Also my role was well paid for nonprofit sector and looking at other roles in the space makes me realize I’m not going to get close to the same salary again. Considering consulting again but loved this job 1000% more. Advice?

How much of your salary goes into expenses, savings account and investment? Where and how do you invest? I have been doing my research but not sure where to start. I feel sad to say but all my savings are just lying in my savings account :(

This might be the pettiest thing to be sad about, but as someone who recently moved to a FAANG with a chunky compensation bump, I've actually oftentimes felt poor because I'm now the most junior / least paid person in the house and everyone around me earns more. Has anyone else experienced these feelings?

Feel sad when I hear my brother-in-law's salary is four times of mine because the career path is basically different profession. I want to catch up to that level but its i possible in my path. This route just does t get paid that many. But to do something else require huge cost too and I dont know what else to do yet either. What is your advice?

How many years of experience did you have before becoming a Senior Art Director and what was your salary progression to that point? Also, what responsibilities came with the title? 

Working Moms/Dads: Do in-house positions exist with flex time hours? I need to be able to leave work at 4pm to pick up my son from daycare, but i can get back online at home to resume any unfinished work at 8pm. Is this realistic to convey to any companies in an interview? Pandemic aside, is face time 9-7pm really important? Or should i just try to find a job with a salary that covers a nanny salary and accept that i will never see my son on weekdays (which would be sad for both of us)? TIA!

Ogilvy leadership talk alot about transparency. I would love them to put their words into action. Lauren should come out and confirm that she did not get a bonus (the sad truth of the matter is that despite layoffs, revenue and margin declines, it would not surprise me if she did). Sad state of affairs. Happy to stand corrected.

Whats a normal SAD salary range to ask for in Austin?

I just put in notice at my firm and I feel a bit heartbroken. I love my firm, I think I’m making a mistake, but I’ve already accepted a new position for higher compensation and I don’t want to go back on my word with the new firm. I know I can’t go back on it. I just feel so sad.

I accepted a new position that has a title bump and salary increase but am feeling weirdly sad about leaving KPMG. I loved the people I worked with and the firm, but unfortunately just can’t ever seem to get to that next level (despite being rated as performing at the next level two years in a row). Hoping I can find the same connections at my new firm.

I have a great salary but I’m drowning in bills. Between grad school loans and some dumb decisions between 19-23, I’m now 24 and feel like I’m house poor and living paycheck to paycheck. I can talk the talk but I feel like a fraud. Is it wrong that I feel so much more motivated to get a new job now that my SO got a raise and is making more than me? Of course I’m happy for them but it puts makes my sad state of compensation at D feel even worse.

After 3 months of applying I some how got an interview with a well known growing tech start up! Interviewed and got an offer this week. Unfortunately the offer is lower than my current comp with 1 yoe but it gets me out of tech consulting/compliance and into a pretty interesting product facing role! A bit sad about a lower comp but also pretty pumped about pivoting career paths so early and getting to work in product! Hope this “success” helps motivate some of y’all who might feel down!

When I first met my husband, he made more than I did. Over the years, his salary has stayed about the same while mine has grown. Now, I work at a company that gives us stock compensation and am making more money than I ever thought possible. It would be great, but I think it is causing problems in my marriage. Has anyone faced an issue like this? My husband makes snide comments like how it’s my money, not ours. We’ve always been a “what’s yours is mine” kind of couple, so this is sad for me.
