The response to the verbal request was yes. The written request was submitted (and read) Monday this week after a series of unfortunate events and not responded to. The new hire started Thursday. More mis/communications are already taking place that make me very unsure of what or how I am supposed to proceed with training my replacement on, which was something I expressed concern about in my written request. I also expressed that the new hire may not stick around if she sees that nobody is on the same page because she has no time invested as an employee. This would lead to me having to cover two positions again, which I don’t have in me to do again on a long-term basis. I’ve still not received any response and am in a very bad spot, and the red flags that I said I was concerned she may see are already popping up. This has lead me to somewhat sadly apply for a position in a different department, which I already have an interview scheduled for. I am expecting that I will be asked why I am interested in a position in another department when I have only been in my current position for just over two months (for context, I have been in this department for 11 years and this is not a brand new issue). What do I say? I know it wouldn’t be professional to throw my current department’s management under the bus.
