Quick vent: fiancé and I were going to put an offer in on an apartment we loved before all of this Covid stuff happened but changed that plan to rent to buy starting Aug to be safer. The sellers just told us they accepted someone else’s offer to buy. We, especially me, were in love with the apartment but we were too risk adverse to buy now bc if Covid and fiancé working at a startup that had layoffs in the beginning. Just sad bc we’ve been looking for two years and this was the perfect place.
It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️
Know this may be a long shot in terms of actual responses but: @PPMDs, what are your thoughts on the current/impending COVID specific layoffs at your firm? E.G. Glad for the opportunity to reduce the headcount of mid performing SMs with little/no chance of making PPMD? Sad to see a firm you’re a part of undergo such unforeseen circumstances?
Been hell of a year so far. Sort of bittersweet. Lost my job a few months back. Laid off the first time. But my net worth is all time high. And not only that, this has been the fastest increase. 401k up 40% this year. Personal brokerage up 40%. And just refinanced at 2.5. Not sure whether to be sad or happy. Guess will go with happy for now.
Anyone else struggling with jealousy after being laid off? I feel sad and angry when I think about the people who can stay just because their group has a union and / or they work there over 10, some even 20 years. I really loved working at this agency. My bad luck was that our group lost our only client. I really wish I could stay! 😢
I was sad to hear about layoffs at W+K. If you were part of this and want another job in PDX, we’re hiring (although, technically, you can live anywhere now and WFH).
How do you survive in a company after layoffs? Feel thankful to have a job, but the people left are miserable and overworked and sad.
Do you feel sad when engagement finished, as a result, multiple people got fired from client side? Actually not their fault. But executive get rid of them to cover their own ass. I felt like shit...
Bf’s company just did layoffs today. He survived, but is extremely sad... any advice from someone who went through layoffs?
Is it sad that I hate my agency so much I dream of getting fired? Because it would be better than working here while searching elsewhere?
“Two years ago I couldn’t get a job. I was fired. My income dropped to 1/16th. It’s so sad my husband couldn’t be here. (committed suicide) You CAN turn things around” - Joan Rivers 1990 Emmy winner
The sad irony of all the good people who tried to roll out a good product and now have been fired by the AI logic of that bastardized (Microsoft) product so that they can hire more offshore workers.
When you dream that you got fired from your job, wake up, and get sad because it was just a dream! #timetogetout
Pretty sure co-worker is having his exit interview right now. Was talking about getting fired last week but first meeting with mgr signaled no firing. He looked super sad going in... 😕
Community post for those Deloitters who just got laid off. Not to ask how/why, but to support each other in next steps and comfort those who are just plain sad.
To all the Deloitters - it's sad that there are layoffs.. Its good that you want to share the news and "warn" others but how about following a template -- level, office, service line, rating
Was “separated” from my agency today along with other employees in a mass layoff via conference call. Any words of encouragement? It’s my first time being let go 😕
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get fired? I work with a bunch of unethical dirtbags and want to quit, but if I do then to repay educational assistance (cont)
I got laid off and 3 weeks later a SC from HR sends me an email about an opening at the firm. Should I apply???
I need help framing my story. I freelanced for several years before taking an in-house role 6 months ago as an AD (but effectively ACD) managing a team of 10. I just got laid off and...
Has anyone in creative bought a house or apartment? I’m in NYC and trying to pull trigger but fear of job instability and layoffs is crippling me w indecision. Apts ain’t cheap
Indian staff member scared about getting rolled off and getting fired + lose his H1B. Yet comes in late to work and is completely unresponsive and unproductive. I'm done, you're fired.
For those of you who have been laid off: thoughts on temping/freelancing at some random place while you search?
If your role is being closed/being laid off (not due to performance issues) just firm downsizing, do you tell the companies you are interviewing? How to phrase it?
Is this one of the hardest times to get a job? Seems like a bunch of layoffs and lots of people looking?
My day has arrived. Today, I, a Tech Advisory Consultant, was smacked by a surprise afternoon layoff call. I was assured my PA review was nowhere near bottom 5%, but the machine of Accenture has inscrutable ways of determining High Performance. All ends are beginnings,
If my supervisor rejects my PTO request and I go anyway, will I get fired or just rolled off this project?
I guess it’s starting, was just pulled off a proj due to “limited resources”. Hearing there’s a hiring freeze across the industry. I’ve only been employed for a year, are we all about to get laid off?
D 🐠s, I joined the firm as SC in September, my utilization today is 72% and I did some internal project too for 4 weeks. With this scenario, what impact do I have on rating and especially the bonus?
I know Creative Circle sucks but desperate times and whatnot. Is it just the lowballing on salary? Should I not even bother?
I’m 35 and with the constant talk of there being an imminent recession in 2019/20 I’m thinking of reallocating my 401k to a more conservative portfolio a 60% stocks / 40% bonds? Is anyone doing this?
Didn’t snap a pic and didn’t think a pic would do it justice. But have you ever had a shitty day then come across a line of delta planes with brand new livery and just... feel good.
Going to Italy for the first time next month, spending 2 nights in Venice, 2 nights in Florence and 3 nights in Rome. Any recs on things to do/see, where to eat, nightlife and top gelato spots? Thnx 🐠
How long should one wait before asking for their first raise or promotion in strategy as a junior? What are the major benchmarks to hit?
Anyone know of jobs in writing insights and recapping trends based on research? Especially the implications for different sectors? I think I’d love that role, and want to learn more about day to day
Practice 1: 520 Practice 2 (2 weeks later after foundation books from Manhattan) : 580 What should I do to get to 700 in the next 45 days? Have bought the Manhattan prep, and official book set
Hi folks - which consulting firms provide sponsorships for EMBA, I’m 12 years experience planning to do EMBA in 2020. Currently in the process of changing jobs and have offers from Deloitte and ACN.
