I used to be in consulting but moved over to social impact two years ago. I found out I’m getting laid off EOM due to budget cut and I’m really sad. I really don’t have the motivation to apply for new roles, interview etc when usually I actually love that process. Also my role was well paid for nonprofit sector and looking at other roles in the space makes me realize I’m not going to get close to the same salary again. Considering consulting again but loved this job 1000% more. Advice?

Ogilvy leadership talk alot about transparency. I would love them to put their words into action. Lauren should come out and confirm that she did not get a bonus (the sad truth of the matter is that despite layoffs, revenue and margin declines, it would not surprise me if she did). Sad state of affairs. Happy to stand corrected.

Well I just got laid off from the industry job I started a few months ago and hated. The fact that I’m not even remotely sad about it shows how toxic and horrible the experience was. Good thing is I already have interviews lined up and have been applying to jobs way more in the past week so I’m not even phased.

My little sister got engaged today. She’s so in love and she truly found her soulmate. I’m so happy for her but I can’t help but feel bad for me. She’s always been an over achiever and has always “beat” me in everything (job, looks, love, social life etc). She and her fiancé are moving into a nice new condo in an amazing city while I’m single and stuck with my parents because I got laid off during Covid. I love my sister, but I’m so sad about my current state. I don’t know how to feel better.

Been hell of a year so far. Sort of bittersweet. Lost my job a few months back. Laid off the first time. But my net worth is all time high. And not only that, this has been the fastest increase. 401k up 40% this year. Personal brokerage up 40%. And just refinanced at 2.5. Not sure whether to be sad or happy. Guess will go with happy for now.

I’m feeling very sad. I just learned that the partner in my previous firm got fired. I considered him my mentor. He took me under his wing. He was my Don Draper and I was his Peggy Olson. I’m really bummed about this, heartbroken and worried. Nobody knows why. The ex-colleague said everything was normal, they sent him emails but bounced back. Nobody saw it coming. 😢

Anyone else struggling with jealousy after being laid off?
I feel sad and angry when I think about the people who can stay just because their group has a union and / or they work there over 10, some even 20 years.
I really loved working at this agency. My bad luck was that our group lost our only client. I really wish I could stay! 😢

Was laid off last week from Deloitte after two years. While I’m sad about the situation, I’m taking it as a sign from the universe to start anew. Interested in pivoting to public sector consulting. Would anyone from Guidehouse be able to refer me? Curious about the day to day life of someone working at Guidehouse as well. Thank you in advance.

@PPMDs, what are your thoughts on the current/impending COVID specific layoffs at your firm?

E.G. Glad for the opportunity to reduce the headcount of mid performing SMs with little/no chance of making PPMD? Sad to see a firm you’re a part of undergo such unforeseen circumstances?

Quick vent: fiancé and I were going to put an offer in on an apartment we loved before all of this Covid stuff happened but changed that plan to rent to buy starting Aug to be safer. The sellers just told us they accepted someone else’s offer to buy. We, especially me, were in love with the apartment but we were too risk adverse to buy now bc if Covid and fiancé working at a startup that had layoffs in the beginning. Just sad bc we’ve been looking for two years and this was the perfect place.

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️

My coworkers and I were laid off from Grant Thornton mostly due to utilization issues, although it's sad that utilizations were out of our control, should've left earlier like the rest of our peers.

The sad irony of all the good people who tried to roll out a good product and now have been fired by the AI logic of that bastardized (Microsoft) product so that they can hire more offshore workers.
