I used to be in consulting but moved over to social impact two years ago. I found out I’m getting laid off EOM due to budget cut and I’m really sad. I really don’t have the motivation to apply for new roles, interview etc when usually I actually love that process. Also my role was well paid for nonprofit sector and looking at other roles in the space makes me realize I’m not going to get close to the same salary again. Considering consulting again but loved this job 1000% more. Advice?
Ogilvy leadership talk alot about transparency. I would love them to put their words into action. Lauren should come out and confirm that she did not get a bonus (the sad truth of the matter is that despite layoffs, revenue and margin declines, it would not surprise me if she did). Sad state of affairs. Happy to stand corrected.
Well I just got laid off from the industry job I started a few months ago and hated. The fact that I’m not even remotely sad about it shows how toxic and horrible the experience was. Good thing is I already have interviews lined up and have been applying to jobs way more in the past week so I’m not even phased.
My little sister got engaged today. She’s so in love and she truly found her soulmate. I’m so happy for her but I can’t help but feel bad for me. She’s always been an over achiever and has always “beat” me in everything (job, looks, love, social life etc). She and her fiancé are moving into a nice new condo in an amazing city while I’m single and stuck with my parents because I got laid off during Covid. I love my sister, but I’m so sad about my current state. I don’t know how to feel better.
I got laid off in the most disrespectful and demoralizing way. I was sad and depressed. Then the clouds parted, and the sun came back out. I focused on positives. I gave out good vibes. I helped a bunch of people. I tried to not get dragged down in spite and bitterness. It was really hard! Best part? I just got hired after only 3 weeks off and it’s for somewhere better (a TRULY independent shop!) I’m making more money and will be working with people who seem talented, capable, and smart.
Been hell of a year so far. Sort of bittersweet. Lost my job a few months back. Laid off the first time. But my net worth is all time high. And not only that, this has been the fastest increase. 401k up 40% this year. Personal brokerage up 40%. And just refinanced at 2.5. Not sure whether to be sad or happy. Guess will go with happy for now.
I was sad to hear about layoffs at W+K. If you were part of this and want another job in PDX, we’re hiring (although, technically, you can live anywhere now and WFH).
I’m feeling very sad. I just learned that the partner in my previous firm got fired. I considered him my mentor. He took me under his wing. He was my Don Draper and I was his Peggy Olson. I’m really bummed about this, heartbroken and worried. Nobody knows why. The ex-colleague said everything was normal, they sent him emails but bounced back. Nobody saw it coming. 😢
Anyone else struggling with jealousy after being laid off? I feel sad and angry when I think about the people who can stay just because their group has a union and / or they work there over 10, some even 20 years. I really loved working at this agency. My bad luck was that our group lost our only client. I really wish I could stay! 😢
Was laid off last week from Deloitte after two years. While I’m sad about the situation, I’m taking it as a sign from the universe to start anew. Interested in pivoting to public sector consulting. Would anyone from Guidehouse be able to refer me? Curious about the day to day life of someone working at Guidehouse as well. Thank you in advance.
Know this may be a long shot in terms of actual responses but: @PPMDs, what are your thoughts on the current/impending COVID specific layoffs at your firm? E.G. Glad for the opportunity to reduce the headcount of mid performing SMs with little/no chance of making PPMD? Sad to see a firm you’re a part of undergo such unforeseen circumstances?
Quick vent: fiancé and I were going to put an offer in on an apartment we loved before all of this Covid stuff happened but changed that plan to rent to buy starting Aug to be safer. The sellers just told us they accepted someone else’s offer to buy. We, especially me, were in love with the apartment but we were too risk adverse to buy now bc if Covid and fiancé working at a startup that had layoffs in the beginning. Just sad bc we’ve been looking for two years and this was the perfect place.
It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️
DDB Chicago posted ‘we’re hiring!’ today. For the same creative roles they just laid off.The press DDB would’ve gotten for being the first agency to bring people back? But instead they humiliated those people with this tone. Really sad!!!!!
So Uber layoffs have started. Uber subsidiary Careem to let go 31% of it’s staff. Sad state of affairs... https://blog.careem.com/en/securing-careem-through-these-uncertain-times/
My coworkers and I were laid off from Grant Thornton mostly due to utilization issues, although it's sad that utilizations were out of our control, should've left earlier like the rest of our peers.
I’ve been working at a toxic agency and I just got laid-off. What I Say: “I’m so sad this happened.” How I Feel:
Is Accenture telling folks to use PTO if they are on the bench? I assume once they have used up PTO- they will get laid off? This is both sad and very scary.
Would you be sad if you got fired today?
Just got laid off today 😥 super sad
How do you survive in a company after layoffs? Feel thankful to have a job, but the people left are miserable and overworked and sad.
If one of your major clients(m) came on to your senior art director(m), and after being rejected decided to pull their business from your agency unless you fired the AD. What would you do?
Do you feel sad when engagement finished, as a result, multiple people got fired from client side? Actually not their fault. But executive get rid of them to cover their own ass. I felt like shit...
Bf’s company just did layoffs today. He survived, but is extremely sad... any advice from someone who went through layoffs?
Is it sad that I hate my agency so much I dream of getting fired? Because it would be better than working here while searching elsewhere?
“Two years ago I couldn’t get a job. I was fired. My income dropped to 1/16th. It’s so sad my husband couldn’t be here. (committed suicide) You CAN turn things around” - Joan Rivers 1990 Emmy winner
The sad irony of all the good people who tried to roll out a good product and now have been fired by the AI logic of that bastardized (Microsoft) product so that they can hire more offshore workers.
When you dream that you got fired from your job, wake up, and get sad because it was just a dream! #timetogetout
Pretty sure co-worker is having his exit interview right now. Was talking about getting fired last week but first meeting with mgr signaled no firing. He looked super sad going in... 😕
Community post for those Deloitters who just got laid off. Not to ask how/why, but to support each other in next steps and comfort those who are just plain sad.
To all the Deloitters - it's sad that there are layoffs.. Its good that you want to share the news and "warn" others but how about following a template -- level, office, service line, rating
Heard through the grapevine. Bunch of analysts got fired for getting too drunk at DU and passed out in the bushes. Can anyone confirm or deny?
Any post-MBAs from Deloitte recently laid off that were expecting GSAP tuition reimbursement? If so, did you receive any?
Anyone here from Deloitte who has been laid off or personally knows someone who did, and can give an overview of the process (who contacts you and how, what if you are staffed, what about GSAPers)
Lots of farewell emails this week at PwC. People getting laid off? Has anyone heard anything about it?
Layoffs at Accenture?
Feeling anxious, that an impending wave of layoffs is coming. As a way to anticipate, would everyone comment if they have been let go or know of them happening somewhere?
I was laid off from my job awhile back and I have a gap through temp jobs I was doing. How should I display this on my resume? Leave the gap or say contractor or temp.
At Deloitte now. laid off last year while on medical leave. Landed a new job with the help of a senior mentor and vouched for me not knowing my medical limitations. I just had to take sick leave again on the first project out of the gate. Dr is recommending 40 hours a week which will not fit the requirements of my director role. I feel like I need to switch roles to a non client facing role to be realistic in my health limitations. How do I make the switch and have the convo with w my mentor?
How many days on the bench before getting fired is a real possibility? Asking for a friend
“This global pandemic is exactly what our industry needed.” Okay...now repeat this exact phrase to the hundreds already laid off and all the ones to come. 🤯 https://www.campaignlive.com/article/took-global-pandemic-draw-line-sand-adland-sorely-needed/1678340
How is the business going for all you consultants? Are your companies getting new projects? Any layoffs ?
Just got fired. Not surprised and kind of relieved but ego is bruised. Anyone got any stories of when they got fired/laid off and it turned out for the better?
New hire here. No ratings? Wtf? How is that working out for everyone? How does the firm know who to reward the most or who is a complete dick that needs to be fired?
When someone gets fired/laid off but they keep their previous title/agency on LinkedIn, does anyone ever tell them to change it?
Hello everyone, I was laid off a few months ago working as a Business Analyst for a well known EHR company. I have been having a pretty rough time getting interviews. For those who wouldn’t mind, may I get some feedback on my resume?
Small town teachers....how do you get past the insulation? I can’t talk to anyone in my district about issues I’m having with admin because it’s a small town & they cover each other and gaslight you. The school district only cares about their PR and has vague policies that keep us from saying against them, yet we can’t say anything TO them either. My union rep is trying to help but she also said that it’s all too common for small towns. They always win & you just have to suck it up or get fired.
I know this industry is unstable, so just wondering about emergency funds. How long could you last if you got laid off for awhile ?
How many people have you fired?
Anyone know what the base salary and total comp bands are for Managing Directors at FTI? Thanks
Financial analyst at Visa. Is it worth it? Considering it as an exit opportunity from Audit
Is LGA still a mess for Ubers? Any tips on catching a ride to midtown? Want to avoid that insane cab line
This is an actual sign in Golden Gate Park which supports my claim San Francisco has become a public toilet.
Does anyone here regret joining MBB? If so, why?
EY ppl, how much PTO/sick days/personal days do you guys get. One thing I'll miss if I leave GT is flexible time off.
Any media freelancers out there? I am leaving my Full time position at the end of the month to take a break. I’m figuring out my next step and would love to get intel on how you got started
Beginning to be concerned that new first years are going to be making more than me after my raise (A2)... Does this ever actually happen?
I’m SO stoked about a new position I just accepted, smart interview, great work and 40k extra pay. But most comments on here and glassdoor say the place kinda sucks. Am I dense to be worried?
Anyone interested in a data engineering role in finance? Location NYC. If so, please DM and I will provide details.
Had a first round case interview over the phone today that was supposed to last 30 minutes. After 20 minutes, the interviewer abruptly ended the call. Assuming this is a bad sign?
Wife is considering quitting her job for 6 months to a year to care full time for our 3.5 and 1.5 year old until COVID settles down. Financially, we can make it work (semi) comfortably on 1 salary. Thoughts / advice from dads who’ve gone through this? Good idea? Live in Chicago.
I hear a lot about Bankers & consultants going back to school for their MBA. I’m a digital marketer having worked for 5+ F500 clients. Should I try and get an MBA from a Top 20 school?
Late night reviewing presentation and fell asleep and the yellow highlighter drained on to the hotel bedspread. I confessed.....or should I have demanded points cuz they drained my highlighter 😂
