Stop worrying. That never solves anything. To address your concerns, talk to the principal about the staffing plans for next year. This could change, based on the actual enrollment. If the principal says the school will need the same number of 1:1 aides, assume you are safe. Hopefully you license will come in before staff must be finalized for the next school year. If it doesn't, you could get bumped by another aide from another district school. If your state laws are the same as ours, the district will have to find other places to cut their budget that do not directly affect special needs students. That could be increasing class sizes by a few students to allow for cutting a teacher's position. With a 1:1 aide, you have no "fat" to cut. On the other hand, if there is no special need student for an aide, that position is eliminated, regardless of budget considerations.
Depending on your location districts are hiring, especially paraeducators with experience. I hope it works out well for you.
I agree, paraeducators are in demand probably everywhere. I know in my district there are several job vacancies for paraeducators. Belief in your value, you got this! 💪🏼
I forgot to mention that I don't know if I'm safe from getting laid off, moving to a different classroom or a different school in the district. Not only that, I'm still waiting on my licensure to be renewed. What do I do to ease my fears about my current situation?
