If you get laid off is it possible to go to a B2 visa and then back to a H1B? Extremely stressed with current situation and having purchased a house recently seems to be adding additional pressure.
Why did Deloitte’s federal practice have layoffs? Given that the clients are large government entities. I can understand it happening in commercial but federal makes no sense
Any tips on negotiating severance package? What’s typical package for a NY lay off? How do we maximize the money we receive? I’ve also read things on the internet that say “don’t sign it on the spot.”
Checking in with those who were laid off a few months ago. How are you all doing? Are you having any luck finding open positions?
Made it a year without getting fired, and my reward is google stock vest. What's the best restaurant you've visited in LA in the last year?

LA, what's good? I know basically every agency out here had layoffs last year, so is anyone looking to hire a mid-level AD?
Started seeing some ✌🏻️ emails anyone know if promotion/VC calls happened this week. Seems it would line up. No layoffs just leaving for another job.
My agency will not fire a notoriously lazy and indecisive woman ECD through multiple rounds of layoffs because of the optics
I have been on my SO’s case about drinking. He is unemployed and has been laid off. He has been having drinks 3x a week. One or two glasses a session. I drink 2-3x a month. I say it is too much. He’s Irish and I’ve lived in Ireland. People binge drink the entire weekend until they fall over. Someone who comes home from work drinks one dram of whiskey every night. This is normal. Americans define this as alcoholism.Do you think this is a cultural difference or actual excessive drinking?
I’ve been laid off for 6 months+ looking for senior account management roles in NYC. My background is in digital content strategy, performance marketing, and ecommerce.
If the big4 has an up or out model, do a lot of senior managers get laid off? Not everyone can be a partner/principle. How long can someone be a partner/principle for?
What constitutes a “notice period” when terminated? Wondering if eligible for severance. Not fired for any of the “causes”. Working in at-will state.
Analysts who left in their 1st year either (voluntarily or laid off) where did you end up and how long did it take you? Consulting isn't for me and I'm obviously only eligible for entry level roles
Recreational drug enthusiasts, how has lockdown affected that part of your lifestyle? Doing more, less, the same as before? Dealers still active or is stuff harder to get? Layoffs=Walter White 2.0s?
I have a H1B visa that has been renewed once already. However in the designated period of 6 years I have been in the US for only around 2. Does that mean I can renew my H1B visa or reapply fresh?...
Advise on handling rates negotiations with BIPOC and non-male creators? I always want to accept first bid and get uncomfortable when my bosses push to undercut rates (especially now when money is tight), because there is a whole history of BIPOC and non-male people getting paid less. I’ve tried to push back but struggle to articulate this to them. (For the record, I’m POC female and my bosses are white males, and race/gender convos are already very difficult with them.)
I have to present to a client via video chat today. Guess I need to actually put on makeup and get dressed ...maybe just the top half.
Any firm in the US sponsoring visa now for consulting jobs? I'm a CPA with a total of 5 YOE, 2 of which is in consulting. If someone could refer me that would be awesome. Otherwise, any inputs/comments are welcome!
How do you expense room service for a meal? It seems like it would just increase the hotel bill in the expense buffer.
Biden quote recently: “You know back in the 30s when we had the first breakthrough in terms of what..umm.. having the union movement be able to move...” What is happening to this guy!
People on FishBowl be like: “Hey 🐠, I’m 33 and just got a $2.5 million inheritance. I’m thinking about going back to get my MBA, but I also want to retire and move to a foreign country. Also just found out my wife’s been cheating on me with my brother. What should I name my first born child? 😀”
I am 7 years out in a transactional practice (real estate) and have an opportunity to move in house at a regionally respected company from a midsize firm. I have WFH flexibility at my current firm but bill about 1850-1900 per year. It would be about a 25% paycut. I have also been offered partnership starting in 2022 if I stay - not entirely clear what that long term structure looks like (would have to develop a partially independent book in next 3-5 years). Am I crazy if I leave?
Anyone at the PCAOB? How are the benefits? 401k, any pension, medical premiums and provider (BCBS/UHC)? Did you find their compensation package to be competitive?
For those that exited to Google but were targeting a specific domain (ex: PM/ Biz Ops - Partnerships/ Chrome/ Social/ Non Profit etc): Did you target the broader business role first (PM/ Biz Ops)? Or the domain (Partnerships/ Chrome/ Social/ Non Profit etc)? Assume educational background and work experience in domain coupled with general consulting skills.
Hi all, I’m looking for recommendations of tech/ automotive companies that allow working fully remote. Has anyone ever actually used the word synergy in a client deck and it didn’t get immediately rejected?
Thoughts on exiting to a FAANG L6 Strategy role or waiting until July for my impending promotion to manager? Do we think I can push the start date out to August?
Hi guys, I am due to start working at EY soon within audit. I will be commuting to the office by train when in the Birmingham office. This will be from Leicester. Usually if a commute is about 1.5 hours+, Mazars authorises hotels. Is there a similar policy at EY? When not in the office I would prefer to drive to clients, not sure if me being in Leicester affects whether they will tell me to suck up an extended commute? Would a mileage claim be from the office to the client? Thanks!
What skills would you recommend I pick up as a management consultant at Accenture to exit into a program manager role in tech?
